You'll notice that the "red" states typically get more money back from the Federal treasury than they put in, while "blue" states tend to be the ones doing the subsidizing. New Jerseyites get shafted the worst, while Mississippians make out like bandits.
This is very misleading since it is a table providing figures not normalized by income. Check the average income from states. People in MS are not allowed to make much money and hence don’t pay much. Why is CA asking for billions in bailout?
About 35% of Mississippi is Comprised of low income Blacks who are on all kinds of Federal assistance programs. Lotsa low income Whites as well.
