DUmmie FUnnies 07-04-06 ("Put Away the Flags")
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | July 4, 2006 | Howard Zinn, DUmmies, and PJ-Comix

Posted on 07/04/2006 4:53:09 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

It's the Fourth of July and the DUmmies are "patriotically" urging each other to "Put Away the Flags." They are so disgusted with the USA that they frown upon such displays of patriotism. The DUmmies are supported in this belief by left wing whacko, Howard Zinn, as you can see in this THREAD titled, "Put Away the Flags - Howard Zinn." Almost half the replies have been deleted so one can only imagine what extreme anti-American rants were worthy of not even being allowed in DUmmieland. So let us now watch the DUmmies tell each other to put away their flags in Bolshevik Red (but not White and Blue) while the commentary of your humble correspondent, lighting another firecracker beneath the DUmmie pretenses as usual, is in the [brackets]:

Put Away the Flags - Howard Zinn

[Oh, if he said so...we must, we MUST!]

Put Away the Flags
by Howard Zinn

On this July 4, we would do well to renounce nationalism and all its symbols: its flags, its pledges of allegiance, its anthems, its insistence in song that God must single out America to be blessed.

[Thanx Howie for expressing the TRUE feelings of the Left.]

Is not nationalism -- that devotion to a flag, an anthem, a boundary so fierce it engenders mass murder -- one of the great evils of our time, along with racism, along with religious hatred?

[Flying the flag leads to mass murder according to the bizarre Zinnian logic.]

These ways of thinking -- cultivated, nurtured, indoctrinated from childhood on -- have been useful to those in power, and deadly for those out of power.

[Flag flying as indoctrination. Um, can we question your patriotism NOW?]

National spirit can be benign in a country that is small and lacking both in military power and a hunger for expansion (Switzerland, Norway, Costa Rica and many more). But in a nation like ours -- huge, possessing thousands of weapons of mass destruction -- what might have been harmless pride becomes an arrogant nationalism dangerous to others and to ourselves.

[So it is okay for small countries to fly their flags but really horrible for the USA to do it. Meanwhile Zinn slams the USA with not a MENTION of the Islamo-fascists who are truly dangerous. And now on to the FAVORABLE DUmmie reaction to this article...]

I agree w/Howard. The thought of celebrating tomorrow makes me ill.

[Can we question your patriotism now?]

Zinn speaks for me. sadly, this is how I feel this year.

[This is how you feel EVERY year.]

I agree wholeheartedly with Howard! I haven't flown the flag since the psycho illegally invaded Iraq. I fly a PEACE flag ONLY. It stays up until we get the hell out of there.

[I have seen a lot of Pali flags at the "peace" demonstrations to the exclusion of American flags.]

Arrogant nationalism. That's the problem.......it's the sense of entitlement that is destructive.

[Like the sense of entitlement of claiming election victories even when you LOSE?]

You need to read some actual history of the American Revolution. Many of the founding fathers were not Christians. And Americans by and large do NOT trust Bush; alcoholics can never be trusted.

[YOU need to read some actual history of the American revolution. Such as how the revolution started as a protest AGAINST higher taxes.]

NOOOO! That is the worst possible things those of the left could do because it confirms the right's propaganda that the flag is theirs. It's the exact opposite thing those on the left should be doing. Wave the flag, Democrats, wave it proud!

[A pragmatic DUmmie who wants to fool people into thinking the leftists are really patriotic so he supports flying the flag...but only as a cynical PR ploy.]

I have no pride in my country today. I will not celebrate tomorrow in a big way.

[And don't forget to not enjoy the fireworks.]

I skipped through the samples to post because I now all it wold do for me to read them is disappointment me more than usual from the collection of the functionally challenged at du--I suspect all it mean is the successful brainwash to stupidity of susceptible minds by the likes of bennish--who? Bennish the idiot "teacher."

Yep -- there are probably some normal Democrats (the sort who learned at daddy's knee that the Democrats are the party of the Working Man (yay!) and the Republicans are the party of the Bosses (boo! hiss!) stumbling upon DU every day. They're every bit as appalled and outraged by this crap as anybody here.

Their patriotism? How about their sanity?

Even when they advocate doing the right thing it always comes down to how they are perceived. We Conservatives wave the flag because we love our country. The Loony Left waves the flag strictly to try and score political points.

Poor Dummies! Just like the thread where they called on putting on a happy face while they're losing elections...it's always spin in their warped little world.

Maybe we'll just wave two flags, or even three! Wouldn't that put a pepper in their pickle!

What a truly sad and pathetic lot.

They have no self respect or self pride either. One who cannot love themselves or respect themselves is a truly lost sole.

I hope their soles, all of them, will be saved somehow. I have never seen a sadder DUFU.

Who was that Southern Senator whom Rush mimics

I believe it is/was Ernest "Fritz" Hollings, (Rat-South Carolina) with his quote that there's too much consumin' going on. Personally I think he was confused, since with his own constituents, there's too much imbibing going on.

Here in the middle of RATland, Chicago, one would think we are in WWIII from all the fireworks going off in my neighborhood. A couple that sounded like car bombs just went off. Fortunately, the night is cool and clear so the smoke drifts away. Many Fourths the air neighborhood is filled with smoke.

These Democrats don't mind waving the flag and shooting off fireworks. But they don't frequent DU either.

How about "The footprint of the American Chicken". :>)

Typical nonsense from the One-Worlders. They undoubtedly wouldn't fly Canadian flags on Canada Day nor Mexican flags on Diesyséis were they citizens of those countries.

Don't question their patriotism? Didn't think I had to - it's a given they have none.

But...who're gonna be the first ones to hide behind the flag if anyone were to invade this country?

"I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o'beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:

O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's ``Thank you, Mister Atkins,'' when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's ``Thank you, Mr. Atkins,'' when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.

Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy how's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints:
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;

While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind,"
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir," when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir," when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country," when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
But Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool - you bet that Tommy sees!"

I support the troops my right to watch fireworks, not the invasion/occupation of Iraq celebration of the USA on the 4th. That means I can still go and watch. It's my right!

PEACE SYMBOL or NERO'S CROSS

I know it's a belated post but you reminded me I read a bumper sticker back in '71-'72 that called the peace sign The footprint of an American Chicken.

And, oh, a propos, (pardon my french) just last night I made an exception to my usual cheap ways and ordered a custom "Crazy Calvin Pee On the NYT" stick-on decal for my little S-10. I'll probably get 'keyed' by my 'peace-loving' liberal co-workers, but it'll be worth it. Happy Independence Day!!!

I'll happily take the free ride in the squad car.

Uhh. . . NOT the "teutonic rune of death." The rune Algiz represents the world-tree, Yggdrasil, and it is a rune of protection.
The peace sign is the rune of protection, reversed (which doesn't reverse it's meaning) within a circle. Period.

http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html

Please, not all of us conservatives are Christian.
No insult meant here, but researching pagan symbols on Christian sites (which is what your links point to) is like researching Judaic symbols on Muslim or Neo-Nazi sites.
Do some real research next time please.

Aren't a good chunk of liberals current or reformed alcoholics?

For many of them, "alcoholic" would be a step up.
