The motion also countered Williams' argument that he and his lesson plans were singled out for review by Principal Patricia Vidmar because of his religion. The motion stated that parental complaints prompted the actions.

All this makes me question the viability of public schools, period. It's not just a question of please all, please none. Simply, it's impossible to teach secular subjects without a value system -- or at least, shared values.

IMHO, parochial schools are the way to go. A shame the gov't can't subsidize secular studies.

I have observed this behavior in certain "teachers" of my acquaintance.
It's almost like schools was the greatest event in their whole life and rather than leave school to go out into the real world they became teachers so they would always remain in school. They do everything they can to continue to "fit in" with their teenage "students". Be one of the "gang".
They almost always act Superior to people of their own age group. After all, they are still part of the "in" crowd.

Sad but nonetheless true.
