People Need To STOP Bashing Sarah Palin Over McCain

Posted on 03/26/2010 8:44:09 AM PDT by wk4bush2004

So yeah, I'm getting sick and tired of how people are bashing Sarah Palin over her endorsement of McCain.

We all know why she's doing it and she has my complete respect and support.

So, anyway, conservatives are fighting amongst each other over this and it really is pathetic! On Sarah's Facebook page, people keep lamenting, whining and moaning over it, and I kept calmly trying to calm them down, but they wouldn't listen. Finally, I lost it and said:

"FOR GOD'S SAKE, PEOPLE, PULL YOURSELVES TOGETHER!!!!! THIS IS NOT HOW A GROUP OF PATRIOTS ACTS!!!!!!!!

SERIOUSLY, DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE 100% PERFECT IN YOUR EYES IN ORDER FOR THEM TO BE A VIABLE CANDIDATE???? LAST TIME I CHECKED, NO ONE IS!

SARAH PALIN IS THE BEST CHANCE WE HAVE TO UNSEAT OBAMA AND HIS FASCIST REGIME AND YOU'RE ALL HERE TOO BUSY ARGUING ABOUT ONE ENDORSEMENT!!!!!!!! THAT IS PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!

WE HAVE TO BE 100% UNITED IN ORDER TO DEFEAT THE SOCIALISTS!!!!!!! STOP GETTING INTO STUPID PETTY FIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SARAH ENDORSED MCCAIN! OK, DONE, NEXT ISSUE, PLEASE!!!!!!!"

I'm no military guy, but I do know that in a battle, you need to have a UNITED FRONT and petty arguments like this are dividing the front!

It is obvious that Sarah Palin is the only one who can defeat Obama and that we need to be united around her!

I agree (now take a deep breath and take off the caps lock). I believe we need to pull together, that is what it is going to take to defeat and undo this admin’s fascism

There are things I dislike about every candidate, but unless they are a total RINO, I don’t bash them over every choice because now more than ever conservatives need a strong front. JMHO.

“A. Please explain in detail exactly why you believe this.

B. Are saying that obama is a shoe-in if Palin continues her current road of “show me the money” instead of tossing her hat into the ring?”
__________________________________________________________

A. I believe that Sarah is the only one who can defeat Obama because I know she can. I have seen her speak at a rally. When I saw her speak, I saw a President in her. I saw someone who loves America with all her heart and will work to make it a great place again. I saw someone who doesn’t want political gain, but who will serve her country. I saw someone with genuine love and passion for America. It nearly brought me to tears.

I know intuition isn’t a really strong argument, but it is one, at least.

I also know of her true qualifications. She has more executive experience than Obama will ever have. I think that in 2012, people will be so tired of Obama that they will be begging for true reform.

She has FAR more support than people realize.

B. If Sarah Palin doesn’t enter and we get stuck with (God forbid!) Mitt Romney, Obama is a shoe-in. The Socialists attack Sarah so harshly because they KNOW she is the only one who can defeat Obama. They KNOW that she is a direct threat to their plans and that’s why they are trying to take her out.

Who else today has been attacked as harshly as Sarah Palin?

Thanks for demonstrating the lack of actual leadership in the Republican Party.

They say you are what you eat. But in politics you are who you endorse.

People will inevitably be disappointed when they value politicians & personalities over principle.

That said, I'm also among the apparent small minority of people who have never been a fan of Palin's so this is no surprise to me.

So then, according to you, we should just throw in the towel now. Got it.

Here is where you mess up. We have no candidates yet. Easy enough. We do not know who will enter and most all of them have some warts. I get to pick and choose what warts I can tolerate, not anyone else.

I really hate it when some of us are asked “who is your candidate, if it isn’t Palin, is it Romney, Paul”? uh as far as I know all of them have yet to say they are running.

How the hell do I know until I know who is running and how well they will do at campaign time.

Any of them have the right to run, so hey, I will wait to make a choice.

You’re right Aunt B. McCain’s defeat in the GOP Primary would send a wonderful message to other RINOs.

Palin would not be too upset about it. She knows McCain has feet of clay.

Who is WE? McCain is no conservative, he can’t even bring himself to support the RNC platform. He votes with the dems as often as the conservatives. He’s screwed up everything he touches...CFR, amnesty, cap& trade and on and on.

John McCain's rating from the American Conservative Union was 96% for 2009. His lifetime rating is only 81.97% and his annual rating was only 63% in 2008, so McCain is actually becoming even more conservative.

ACU Ratings for Arizona

For comparison, Sens. Isakson (GA), Sessions (AL), Grassley (IA), Roberts (KS), McConnell (KY), and Hutchison (TX) all had 96% ratings from the ACU in 2009. Should we get rid of them too?

219 - 212 There were a good number of RINO's in that 212. (You asked for a distinction--here's one).

I wonder how those rinos would have voted had their vote been actually needed to pass obamacare.

She has more executive experience than Obama will ever have

______________________________________

Everybody does, is he now the new acceptable standard? That does not mean that she has adequate experience to be POTUS. A gig as mayor of tiny-town and half a term as Governor doesn't cut it.

And, you are right...instincts and intuition are not reasons.

No. We should quit empowering those who compromise what shouldn’t be compromised. Until we do that nothing will change.

Your arizona ACU ratings for McCain are off.

lifetime rating of 82.3% from the American Conservative Union is often cited as proof that he is conservative. Here is a closer look at that 82.3 rating.

First, a rating of 82.3 is not really that high. It puts Senator McCain in 39th place among senators serving in 2006, the latest year for which the ACU has its ratings posted online. For that most recent year in particular, McCain scored only 65, putting him in 47th place for that year. Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE), for example, scored 64 and 75, respectively, in 2006.

Generally, McCain has voted less conservatively in more recent years. His average for 1990-97 was 88, but was only 74 for 1998-2006. Below are his yearly ratings since 1990.

Year

ACU Rating

2006

2005

2004

72

2003

2002

1994

96

1993

1992

So where did McCain differ from the ACU? The big areas were taxes, campaign finance reform, the environment and, most recently, immigration. There was also a smattering of support for trial lawyers; federal intervention in health, education, safety or voting issues; internationalism; and some social issues. He was more consistently conservative on spending and defense issues. The list below summarizes all his votes since 1998 that differed from the ACU’s position.

Another piece of information from the list above is that many of the votes were close. In one third of these votes, a swing of only two senators would have changed the outcome. In over two thirds, a swing of ten senators would have changed the outcome. As someone remarked, McCain is like a baseball player who gets all his hits after two outs and no one on base, and all his outs with men in scoring position.

Wouldn’t be a bad start! The ones you name often vote non conservative, and usually for amnesty, just like McCain.

“The rising star, in my opinion, is Michele Bachmann.”

Now I do LOVE Bachmann as well! She, Sarah, is also amazing! If Sarah doesn’t run, Bachmann would be the one I’d support in a heart-beat.
