Did they buy or rent the residence in Honolulu?

Rented. They never owned a home, despite the fact that Madelyne worked in both banking and real estate escrow. Comment is made in one of the write ups that she spent all of her money on BO's education -- and probably a good bit on Stanlley Ann's too. Madelyne was the steady one in the family because Stanley was a bit of a gadfly -- big ideas and no follow through. Madelyne kept things togethr. The comment was made that she missed the opoortunity to buy property in a nice area of Honolulu before the prices escalated when the Japanese moved in and bought everything in sight.

Of course, that may be overblown too. They moved to Honolulu in 1960 and it was already very expensive there. By 1970 the Japanese had taken over, and there was a lot of resentment from the native Hawaiians. They'd bought up all the gbig hotels and had replaced the native Hawaiian staff with Japanese staff. I took my family there at about that time and was "told off" in a rather quiet manner by a tour guide we hired to drive us out to the Polynesian Cultural Center because we were staying at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel. The guide informed us in no uncertain terms that we were staying in a JAPANESE hotel which was sucking the life blood out ot the Hawaiians.

WhiskeyX, I have absolutely no doubt that your statements about the long term insidious growth of communism in America are true and that too few people recognize it. Typical Americans that did recognize it had no way of combating it except on a personal level by home schooling their children, for example.

Communists and socialists began their dirty work at least as far back as the late 1920s. They went after education, particularly schools of journalism, early on and spread every where else in society.

We have a large library of books on the topic as this is one of hubby’s pet peeves. He’s a fierce conservative and proponent of the constitution and even had some intelligence involvement for the RCMP back before Trudeau emasculated them. (He had dual citizenship, actually he had a third at one time as well due to parentage and other issues.)

I can’t argue with what you say and I thank you for your response, but I can’t quite believe that is the sole cause of the widespread passivity we are seeing. Everyone in government who has the power to do something about it has opted out, fiddling while Rome burns.

While I have little respect left for the crew in Washington, it is still hard to believe there aren’t a few Republicans who have the will to stop these people when there is obviously a way. After all, they are watching their party being permanently marginalized. Are they in shock or are they in cahoots? If the latter, why?

You’re right. I misspoke, conflating the events. One or more sources put the change from Barry Soetoro to Barry Obama about 1980 and the move to Hawaii. Other sources, such as Newsweek, go into a long story about a long and drawn out change from Bar (his immediate family) and Barry Obama to Barack Obama (Eric Moore and others) during the Occidental College period and later.

No, wrong. According to Obama’s book, BARRY OBAMA said his full name was Barack etc etc etc.

There is no evidence he went by Soetoro at Occidental.

The Fact Checker
Obama Overstates Kennedys' Role in Helping His Father

By Michael Dobbs Sunday, March 30, 2008; Page A01

Link to original article

Addressing civil rights activists in Selma, Ala., a year ago, Sen. Barack Obama traced his "very existence" to the generosity of the Kennedy family, which he said paid for his Kenyan father to travel to America on a student scholarship and thus meet his Kansan mother.

The Camelot connection has become part of the mythology surrounding Obama's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. After Caroline Kennedy endorsed his candidacy in January, Newsweek commentator Jonathan Alter reported that she had been struck by the extraordinary way in which "history replays itself" and by how "two generations of two families -- separated by distance, culture and wealth -- can intersect in strange and wonderful ways."

It is a touching story -- but the key details are either untrue or grossly oversimplified. ...continue at link Nixon was involved in this air lift too, not wanting to be outdone by Kennedy.

Did he simply say he was “from” Hawaii or “born in Hawaii”?

It’s really important...

Would the letter to the Hawaiian hospital qualify as him asserting he was born in Hawaii?

Something I read today said that he weight 8 lbs 2 oz. and that he was considered full term. I don’t know where they got that.

I have a son almost the same age as BO and he was 8 lbs 1 oz., 21 1/2 inches long at birth. He was the skinniest, most pathetic looking baby ever — especially when compared with his older sister who had been 9 lbs. 1 oz and an inch shorter. LOL

In fact, when they first brought him to me I called my husband with alarm noting that his little ankles felt like they had particles of glass in them. My husband laughed and assured me that those were his BONES! That “kid” is a strapping 6’ 3” athletic man now, although he is still slim. That’s just his build.

Most babies born now are in the 6-7 lb range. 8 lbs is considered big.

Wonder if she got drunk one night with Davis ???

That could have been his style...

She finds herself preggers without really knowing who the father is...

She may not have even known who the father might be until AFTER Jr was born...

Was she expecting a really black baby or even a really white one to appear ???

My first response would be "She knew it was going to be a black baby so she married BHO Sr." But there is no record of even a marriage application and they were never seen together after supposed marriage would have taken place. Also at age 17 she would of needed a parental signature to get married. So she gives birth, so father "unknown" on the BC and Maddy hires BHO to play daddy.....

Under FAMILY for the year 1960 on theObamaFile web site, there is a link which goes to another site which in turn has links to some “naughty obama mamma” pictures. Somewhere along the way reading all this stuff, I recall a discussion about Ann’s location in the photos. It appears to be an upscale residence for the time. Could it be Davis’ place since Obama Sr. could not afford it? “Wonder if she got drunk one night with Davis,” you asked. Maybe this was the night!

To the best of my recollection, Obama said “I was born in Hawaii.” He didn’t convince me.

Date of book: 1968
It is also plausible that Frank Marshall Davis MIGHT be the father if one believes that the events described in his 1968 sex novel, "Sex Rebel: Black", are true and the 13-year old Anne is really 17-year old Ann Dunham.

Frank Marshall Davis
