Wow!!!

I just re-read my misdirected post to you.

LOL!!! I really was angry wasn’t I?

No wonder you were so upset. Too bad it didn’t get to the right person because I sure spent time composing it.

Again, I am sorry, but at the same time I am laughing at myself because it was a terrible mistake.

I truly believe McCain’s daughter is a reflection of McCain himelf because children tend to imitate their perents.

It is not unusual for me to get up at 4:00 a.m. My cats love it because they get to eat earlier and then get to zonk out earlier.

I got up at 5:30 this morning. Looking out over my apartment, the cats are now all limp rags getting in their zzzzzzs, and it is only 8:15.

They are cats.

I wanted to get a dog (I love animals), but my cats sent me a memo telling me if I did, they would get their suitcases and leave.

Might it be that she enrolled as Stanley Ann Dunham because she had to identify herself when she enrolled?

I wonder which ID she used to do so -- it surely would have been her old Washington state ID, with her unmarried name before she left for Hawaii.

I've long said that IF she was in Hawaii for LESS than 12 months, as Hawaii state law requires, it would have caused problems with residency requirements in Hawaii.

It's rather amazing that all of the "gates" are just BARELY met for his legitimacy, such as: Ann's initial 12 months in Hawaii; Obama's time in Indonesia less than the 5 year period of automatic citizenship for minors; there TWO divorces but no marriage certificates present or found; no adoption papers; no official name changes; etc.

It's almost as if attorneys looked at the events in his life, figured out the pinch-points, and had Obama "reconstruct" the facts to keep him "legal" or leave room for doubt ... just crazy, huh?

And the hospital in Colon was clearly outside the zone. Yes, but his having been born in that hospital is much less clear. Not that it matters, McCain will not run again... OTOH, it might matter since he was the only candidate to get electoral votes for President, other than the Messiah.

That's why it still matters.

As to the point about whether he was born in that hospital or not issue: There is a detailed coverage of the issue at the beginning of the Long Thread which I thought resolved the issue.

In August (08), there was some dissent on the point you raise. After the convention, I was in DC and ran into a lawyer who was working on the McCain campaign and we had the Natural Born Citizen debate. He said the posted birth certificate was correct--McCain born in Colon; but that it didn't make any difference because both his parents were citizens.

There has been some subsequent consideration of McCain. The statute on which he relies for citizenship was adopted several years after he was born and was not retroactive. Further, I am of the opinion, if anyone is interested, that McCain would in fact have had a Common Law argument that he was a citizen at birth because of the two parent rule but that such citizenship was not "natural born citizenship" because of the interruption of the foreign sovereignty.

Fact he is still an Indonesian citizen is substantive. And his Indonesian citizenship and subjection to Indonesian sovereignty ought to preclude him from being a Natural Born Citizen, even if he were born in Hawaii (he wasn't).

No, once natural born, no actions taken by ones parents, natural or adoptive, can change that status. It's even true citizen children in general. Only he could have renounced his citizenship, and even then not until he turned 21, in general anyway. Of course if had done that, there would be paperwork.

When I first read this comment, I thought maybe you were correct and I was wrong.

But, consider--hypothetically, a person born in Hawaii renounces his US Citizenship and becomes an Indonesian citizen; then renounces his Indonesian citizenship and becomes a US Citizen by naturalization proceeding.

Is he now a "natural born" citizen? Doubt there would be any law and the judge would give it to him if he won the election; but, he shouldn't be. Because the citizenship that counts--his present citizenship was naturalization, not "natural born"; the natural born went away when he renounced.

Glad you are feeling better this morning. I feel terrible.

David: This is OT, but relates in a way. I was raised to believe that you could not have dual citizenship in the US, PERIOD. I had a good friend in HS who cliamed to have dual citizenship because he was born here. However, his Welsh father was a British Counsel General stationed in San Francisco at the time and his mom was Australian. He always told his friends that he had to decide to renounce British citizenship when he reached majority (which was 21 at the time). He lived and died in the US and there was no further problem with his odd citizenship.

Then in the 1970s, early 1980s, when there was a spate of airliner and ship hijackings going on, announcements came out in the newspaper that it was OK to have another kind of citizenship if the other country allowed it. The US would just look the other way and you could travel out of the US on a foreign passport if you could get one. This was because the terrorist would look for people with US passports to take them hostage.

I remember because under the rules my mother could have qualified for an Irish passport through her grandfather who had died many years before. I encouraged her to get one because she was traveling quite a lot at that time, but she would have no part of it. Reportedly traveling on a foreign passport while over seas would make no difference to your citizenship status at home.

What were/are the rules at that time? This would have een the same time period when Obama went to Pakistan.

Short answer is that I don't know.

Long before I went to Law School, we had a school friend who was in exactly that position (and lives today with her husband in Houston as she has all her adult life) and that is exactly the story she told when she was in High School--and later, we know she still claims both citizenships but have no idea what kind of elections she made.

A hot topic of the moment however. There are discussions in DC about currency and transaction controls. Banks in many offshore countries will no longer open accounts for US Citizens who don't have a second passport so I have decided to get one.

I too have an immigrant grandfather from a jurisdiction that would recognize me as a citizen. Son went into their DC embassy last week and got the paper work I need to file--son also would then qualify to get a second passport.

I am sorry you are not feeling very well. I hope it passes quickly.

Keep me posted.

LOL!!! What happened with hoosiermama is that she told me, and rightly so, to quit talking/arguing about other things (the CZ) and to keep on message which is Obama.

I thanked her for bringing me to my senses which helped cool me down. She and I are friends here on the forum. My Dad was from Indian too; therefore, I feel a link through her to Indiana.

Again, keep me posted as to how you are feeling.

Some thing has been roiling in the back of my head. Some forgotten piece of info, and I have found it.

Ref: Jerome Corsi’s book, “The Obama Nation”, page 73. Barack Obama was known as Barry Obama at Punahou, according to Corsi, pg. 73. His nickname on the basketball team was “Barry the O’bomber”. On pag. 74, Corsi relates that his father visited him during this time period and addressed him as “Barry” too.

Now, putting that into perspective, I didn’t think much of Corsi’s book. As a matter of fact I forgot that I owned it. Corsi’s book seems to be mostly regurgitated from Barack Obama’s “Dreams from my Father” — a book report, so to speak, with a few contradictions thrown in to make the buyer think that he/she has purchased new material. Now that we all know what a liar Obama is, I wouldn’t believe anything based on DOMF.

What???? I never heard of such a thing, but that doesn't mean that it is not true. As I remember, that is why I wanted my mother to claim an Irish pssport so that I could get one too. That privilege does not extend to GREAT grandchildren. But she wasn't interested at the time, and I doubt that I could interest her now. She's 96. Actually "wasn't interested" is a mild description. She was downright hostile! LOL

Why does an offshore bank want to be sure that a US Citizen has another passport? So that the US citizen can quickly escape the US for some reason?

Where does that put US Citizens who routinely work overseas? Now my mind is spinning crazily...LOL

How many second string high school basketball players have such an evocative nickname? Sounds a little ambitious to me.

BTW, I own both The Obama Nation by Jerome Corsi and THe Case Against Barack Obama by David Freddoso if anyone wants me to look up something.

Corsi’s book mostly regurgitates and rebuts Obama’s book, Dreams from my Father and Freddoso’s book is more about BO’s rise through Chicago politics.

I really haven’t found either book to be too helpful which is why I forgot that I owned them.

Yes, the author says that they called him that because of his "penchant for taking long shots".

Perhaps that was a precursor of his political career! /s

See the Dual Citizenship FAQ by richw.com for the rundown on how SCOTUS decisions scuppered the statutes and created de facto dual citizenship for the U.S. despite Congress.

or if Ann attended ANY classes that first semester at Univ of Wash in late-61.

There may not be attendance in all classes, but she did receive grades, which indicate that she did the coursework and took whatever final exams which were required by her courses. As far as I am concerned, most beginning undergraduate courses have final exams -- I can't see how she wouldn't have taken at least one final exam.

Of course, she could have pulled a Ted Kennedy and had someone sit in on her exams for her!
