What Karl Rove Should Tell La Raza

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza.
If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks.
La Raza, which means The Race in Spanish, has denounced as horrendous and appalling the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans. The bill, which calls for tough worksite enforcement of immigration laws and 700 miles of border fencing, was condemned by La Raza as a laundry list of mean-spirited and intrusive provisions concocted by the most radical immigrations restrictionists in Congress.
Will Rove defend the immigration reforms passed by President Bushs party in the House and tell La Raza that House Republicans are neither mean-spirited nor radical? He should. House Republicans deserve Roves support.

No, I disagree with Alan Keyes on "reparations", or more accurately, his academic argument that perhaps the right way to deal with the reparations issue is to free American blacks from the shackles of the slave tax we call the income tax.
Of course, I agree with him that all Americans, including blacks, should be delivered from that form of slavery. How about you?
But the main point is, Alan Keyes is an American patriot, not a La Raza traitor who wants to invade sovereign US territory and give it to a foreign power. He fights diligently for the protection and restoration of our republican form of self-government.
Unfortunately, Karl Rove is meeting with those who would strip away republican self-government from millions of Americans if they had the power.
And worse, Karl Rove is helping them to gain that power.

Karl Rove is an appeaser to the enemy. Karl Rove is a political strategist and probably the best there is. Geeze get a grip.

You get a guy who makes a perfectly innocuous observation from a reasonable historical perspective, steviejack, did you post this without busting out laughing? I sure laughed when I read it. "shot" and "I would have agreed with it" in the same sentence is considered a violence post around here. Observe that the offending post, with no help from me, has been removed.

Lee Atwater was the best. He did not appease to anyone for cheap votes like his protoge BS Atwater was in more black Churches than Bill Clinton ever was. You are sorely lacking in political history.

"The numbers of voting Republicans who feel as passionately as some on this forum do about immigration is less than 20%."I'll be the first to say outright, KARL ROVE SHOULD NOT BE SHOT! Spanked maybe, but not shot. And to address the demographic numbers you projected, that 20% or less is a number that the Republicans can't live without, given how close the elections have been. They need to find a good middle ground and the Senate bill just doesn't cut it.

They need to find a good middle ground and the Senate bill just doesn't cut it. You've heard of the Pence Plan, tailor made for "the middle ground"?

Blacks have always been a lost cause for the GOP that is why the GOP cannot afford to lose the 40% Hispanic vote it got in 2004. The GOP as the "white" party is not going to win a single election.
