Our local Time Warner is offering free installation on Roadrunner, and $29.95 for the first 6 months. I think we're gonna do it.

Sorry about your terrine.:(

Looks like Mr. ML & I will have costumes for our Medieval Christmas dinner.:) The sister of a friend of mine belongs to The Society For Creative Anachronism and does lots of re-enacting type things.......she is loaning us a couple of things.

I have the centerpiece and table linens planned.......also the table settings, extra candles, etc. etc. etc. Still have to pull together all the music, readings, etc. Not to mention the food.:) The lamb & beef have been ordered; Grandma is bringing the goose. The plum pudding is made. The English cheeses have arrived. Still working on fruit/veggie dishes.

Oh, I am glad you are here! I wanted to tell you about something at the Christmas program tonight (which was very good, by the way).

The kindergarten had a bell choir. The bells were one of several colors. They played a tape of "Silent Night" and the teacher held up cards with the different colors as the appropriate note or notes were needed. It sounded great, and the kids were so proud!

I had never seen bells done that way before, and it was surprisingly good.

Also, my grandchildren were of course cute and stellar performers (except Nathan got a bit of stage fright...but there were over 300 in the audience).

I just got back from my parents' where I fried up a bunch of shrimp chips. I decided to have a party tomorrow in my classes and I'm providing shrimp chips -- a common Asian treat -- and drinks.

I'm exhausted from wrappign the phone books, stacking huge containers of them, and now doing the shrimp chips. I'm bushed and headed for bed.

John, do you know why it's best to serve eggs benedict on a hubcap?

Because there's no plate like chrome for the hollandaise.

Oh, what a neat idea. I love the sound of a bell choir.

I wanted to tell you about something I did today.:)

I was decorating my bathroom for Christmas and I wanted some kind of Christmas-y window treatment. I had already searched a thrift store for Christmas curtain yesterdays but had no luck. I was too lazy to try anywhere else and too cheap to pay for new ones. So I took a cafe-length white lace panel I had on hand and used that for the bottom of the window, and I used a white lace dresser scarf for a valance. And then.....this is the coup de grace........I took some very nice window clings..a large wreath, a "Merry Christmas" banner, and a couple of smaller things.......and I stuck them to the window shade.......so that you can see them through the white lace curtains.:) I just wanted to add a little color. It looks very pretty.

I found these fabulous shower curtain hooks in a catalog..........they are about 1 1/2" in length, in four different Christmas shapes...a tree, snowman, bell, and Santa. They go with the shower curtain I found in the catalog also.

AND for the downstairs bathroom I found blue hand towels with snowmen on them, which match my blue bathroom perfectly, and that is where I have my snowman collection! (This is the larger of the 2 bathrooms.)

Our tree this year is all done in silver and gold, since that will also be the color theme of our dinner.

One time I couldn't find curtains like I wanted for a bathroom ...... so I bought some bath towels and sewed a rod pocket into them ..... quick and easy. They laundered quite well ..... and when I got tired of them as curtains I just took the stitching for the rod pocket out and used them as towels.

To jump to another subject ...... did you see my post the other day about the anthem our choir did on Sunday? It was called "House of Bread" .... which is what the name Bethlehem means. It was really beautiful ..... the words were very meaningful. Are you familiar with it?

I'll miss that. I worked for a Swedish company for long enough to know exactly how that ritual worked.

The company and management provided the mulled wine, and the employees provided the voices.

Ericsson, US, was a wonderful place to work. And the hmyns, sung in swenglish, were something to hear. ;>)

Well, I have come full-circle on the Lott thing. I guess more than anything I am just plain exasperated with him for being such a doofus.

However, what I have decided is that I am going to remember that gulfcoast6 and Common Tator think he does a pretty fair job of getting things through the Senate, and once again we are having our chains yanked by the media.

What I have decided is that President Bush, Marc Racicot, and the Senate Republicans can decide what to do. I am not skillful enough to figure out how to defuse the situation, and therefore I will let those who get paid far more than I (and whose jobs depend on making the right call) make the decision.

I do think Lott should henceforth be kept from microphones, though. Ha!

My post to kayak above applies for you as well. I would have addressed it to you, but I thought you had gone to bed.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I have seen a partial transcript (which I'm sure I couldn't come across again if my life depended on it) and Lott was JOKING! Bob Dole had introduced Trent and then Trent was cutting up talking about how Dole was doing well in the 96 election until he quit telling jokes about Strom ..... or something like that. Then he said what he did ..... as a JOKE, for crying out loud! It was all very light-hearted and everyone was laughing. And now the stinking 'rats have taken it all out of context and turned it into something quite different from what really happened. Much like they did with Newt and his comments about social security ...... when he wanted to simply decrease the amount of increase ..... but the media all played just a part of the sound bite. They are EVIL!!!

I know he was joking, and I also know he wasn't even thinking about segregation. It was simply a silly comment, but when being before C-SPAN cameras he should perhaps stick to a written script.

I hate the media as well. On the other hand, at least we haven't had to listen to Mary Landrieu or X-42 today.

Tomorrow, they will be on to something else.

Got to get some sleep....good-night!
