Well being a techie, I've been spared that headache. We have managers who take care of people and "Technical advisors" who keep the day to day stuff going. I'm a techie also, occasionally I'll be asked if I want to go into management. No way, I don't need the headache...

Good luck to you tomorrow with the terrine. I hope it turns out perfectly for you.
I'm just waiting for my sister to drop her three youngest boys off. She and her husband have something this evening, and needed someone to watch them. We are going to decorate sugar cookies. I baked a cookie sheet last night, about 12 cookies, the rest of the dough is on the counter warming, the frosting is made, and the sprinkles and doodads are just waiting for them. Should be a fun evening...

The commercial guys really do a much better job than they did 30 years ago. Heck, sometimes we eat storebought. Probably not for the next 9 months of school, but we do. grin!

That sounds like a great evening. It's good for you to teach the boys about cooking. I was so disappointed when I was dating, because NONE of the girls I dated could cook. So it's important young men learn to take care of the food for themselves.

The oxtails are falling apart. The sauce is wonderful. The polenta with cream, shallots, and cheese is very creamy and flavorful. Mmmmmmm. Supper tonight is going to be very good.
I've decided on the name for tomorrow's dish. "Terrine chauser sur la cruton rustic". Basically, it's cold meatloaf on toasted home-made jalapeno and cheese bread.

So, you went from the USAF to the United States Terrine Corps????
To: Bitwhacker
Not exactly. But my commander is looking toward me to cater some high level meetings, and making him look good. grin!

Funny you should mention Mapquest. I was just on my way there. I've been poring over our county and city maps marking my territory, but can only find about half of the road or street names. My route is considered rural, but does include a few places in the city limits. Mostly, though, they'll be fairly spread out. Dear Mrs. Mulliner has offered to drive for me for two hours tomorrow, bless her heart. I think it will help get me started.
We knocked off the bagging and taping of all 630 books by 7 pm. With our two oldest helping, we got into a real groove and not only got the work done, but also illustrated division of labor, something one of them is learning about in social studies.
Now, please, keep those goat recipes to yourself....at least until they produce some kids.
Lysie, was it you who said you'd done this job before? Why didn't you warn me what I was getting into?

I would love to get my sister and brother-in-law turned onto FR and ATRW. She is my oldest sister and a very good egg. He is a chef who teaches culinary arts at a community college in Council Bluffs, IA. He got started on his career as a chef in the Coast Guard and now has taught a lot of people his art including most of his own 5 kids. He often does catering for Warren Buffet and other big-wigs in the Omaha area. Oh, and he's a huge Packers' fan so Mozie would definitely approve.

Mapquest is wonderful! I had about 30 road names I couldn't find on our county map. I type one into Mapquest and it pops up with a map including surrounding roads which includes several others I'm hunting for. If I just print out a few Mapquest maps, I think I'll be in very good shape. It's amazing how well it works.
To: Mr. Mulliner
If MapQuest doesn't have you should try MapBlast as an alternative. Between the two you should get everything.
I used MapBlast for a trip driving in Germany and it was terrific for point-to-point directions....

I'm back. My terrine is dead. It broke. Unsalvageable. The dogs love it. Now, at 9:00 pm, I have to come up with something for tomorrow. No pressure. I only worked on it since MONDAY!
The aspic was good, and I have some left. I'm thinking of a small aspic mold with just a single parsley leaf in the center of it. And of course the jalapeno and cheese bread crusts are still good.

for a trip driving in Germany and it was terrific for point-to-point directions....Points where breweries happened to be? ;>)
That is one road trip I would have joined you on. You drive.

HA! Yeah, breweries, except a lot of the really good beer is brewed in monasteries ;-) Think they'd let us in????
And I just LOVE to drive in Germany...
To: Bitwhacker
Think they'd let us in????I'm sure I can get in. I'll try to vouch for you.
How cool is that? Just a bunch of guys in a monasteries brewing beer. That's my kind of God's servants. Much better than the no beer, self-immolating followers of allah.

And is there a difference in TEXAS???First, we know how to spell salsa.
Second, salsa is chunky not fast.
And, everything is different in TEXAS. The sky is bluer, the grass is greener, and the salsa hotter.
To: still lurking
And, apparently, the air is hotter...
To: Bitwhacker
Weren't you moaning about the cold?
