I have been thinking lately it would be nice to have a thread (maybe even a forum later?) for the homeschooling families, because you know how many of us there are. This would not replace us pinging each other with all the great articles we find. It would be a place where we could discuss what curriculum we use, vent when needed, share our successes, compare notes, alert each other to cool things we find on the internet, and vent some more. I'm sure we all have found other sites with forums that we use, but since FReepers are such a cool breed, where better to start up a forum? What do you think?

Add me too.. I homeschooled my eldest from 13 to 18, we're done now, but I can add insights and ideas that were helpful to us. My littlest one will be starting private Christian school next year, because she is so so bright, I don't feel up to the task of giving her everything she needs, (formal education-wise).

I'm working on the reading resource list from the classic curriculum book I am using. I am putting it into a Word document (tables) that I can sort by title, grade, subject, etc. (along with a column to check off or initial that it has been read and another to check if the library has it, if I have it, etc.) So far, I have done 6th, 7th, 8th, and most of 9th grade. (It's 9 pages so far.) If anyone is interested in getting a copy, let me know in FReepmail and as soon as I finish (give me another week), I'll forward it to you

What Classical Ed. book are you using? I have BOTH "The Well Trained Mind" and "Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum" Both have great suggestions. I bought "Designing Your Qwn..." because I wanted to check out the ideas for incorporating Catholic teaching into the curriculum. Right now our kids are reading "Christ and the Americas" along with their American History texts. It gives another view of Amer. History from the Catholic perspective.

Hi Wordsmith! I and my family just moved to southwestern NH in March. We used to live in AZ and the homeschooling laws were much better there. The only thing we had to do was send in a letter of intent. In NH we have to write up the subjects, scope and sequence of what we will be teaching and send it in along with the notification letter as well as have the kids 'progress' evaluated at the end of the year or have them tested. BIG difference. Anyway, welcome to New Hampshire!

I live in AZ and it's becoming more liberal, that's for sure. However, I must say that the hs laws are very good. I suppose an attempt will be made to put more regulations on us.
