I think it is wonderful to get dogs from animal shelters...I have known many people who have gotten their dogs and cats from shelters, and they all say the same thing...those shelter animals are the best pets they have ever had...seems as if living in a shelter, the animal seems to know and realize that things are bad for them...and when a kindly soul adopts them from the shelter, those animals realize that they have been given another chance by a loving human....and these animals are determined to fill that humans life with limitless love...

So thumbs up to all those who adopt from animal shelters...Kathleen with her Candy, and Palos Bill, with his Happy, are two such fine representatives of those humans who will take on a scared, skinny, doggie, and give them a home, restore them to health, and love them again...

lol Lulu got me up bright and early
(I bet you remember that basset hound whine)
she had appetite
my Krafts singles have been disappearing at alarming rate
when Bill woke up he greeted her as ''72 pound Lulu''
when he had his coffee outside, she ate half his bran muffin
Bill tried to get Happy out early cause of heat
Happy got his ''full complement'' (he likes walk to 20/30 club, then back down to Swan Park, then home)(3 miles walk)
but Bill is part Cherokee, he can take heat
(and Happy is a Sampson, he can take heat too)
Lulu and I managed two blocks
she stopped to eat leaves from her favorite bush along footpath
and she was kind enuf to be willing to turn around after that
she wanted to chase kitties in our front yard when we got back
but that is no-no
she is snoozing under table next to me now

Candy does so love to eat. Left to her own devices, she'd get so huge we'd have to drag her around on a creeper. The vet told me to feed her carrots. I tried it once and Candy looked at me as if I had lost my mind. Our girl can throw some "looks" if you know what I mean....

I can't believe no one wanted Candy before we found her, she is a striking beauty. She was definitely meant to be with us.

I agree with that post to a as I think Bush and Reagan are of the same personality type and have most of the same traits.I can recall all the bitching back 20 yrs ago at Ronnie from his base and yet he proved them wrong over time and the commentators that did the loudest carping never said their mea culpas ;-)Bush, like Reagan, is goal vs process driven, which are like most liberals govern, witness Carter and Clinton.Their goal was to exercise power, while Bush/Reagan was to DO something with it :-)

all Candy wants is to be with her Daddy
the dog I had next was reverse, totally independent
the independent ones love us too, just have different style

Of course we have all noticed that. I only meant that Ginacide seems to parallel you so many ways and she is a very funny girl, and so are you.

Candy listens only when there's food involved. :) She is an independent thinker, she does what she wants, when she wants. She'll do what you want eventually but she takes her sweet time about it if you know what I mean. LOL

I figure she had a traumatic puppyhood, so I don't mind.

she was border collie crossed with shepherd (I think)
she was puppy stray
she too was brilliant and never did one thing I wanted
altho she wasn't the eater that my devoted dogs were
she lived for fun

lol she was born in Little Italy in Manhattan and her favorite thing to eat was italian hot sausages
I bet Clio was Italian

you know Kathleen just about this day
it may have been June 2nd
a few years back
Bill did a painting in one afternoon
from imagination
it was when we still had Clio
and I knew the painting was of the goddess Clio really was
(it was painting of woman)
but I recognized Clio in her face
and Clio's spirit
and suddenly I knew we all had Goddess mothers
who want to be near us
(and keep eye on us)
so they take tree forms or animal forms
and somehow I knew that was my goddess mom
and I think Candy is yours
I knew it the instant I saw her pic
and heard the story of how she came to you
she wanted to be with you

andysmom, it's possible that Dizzy is your God-dad
I don't know why, it just crossed my mind now
