When Mike and Andy were young, they loved to have their collection of rubber bugs, and lizards and such, and they had this big old rubber snake...they loved to hide those things, where they knew I would be at, and they would just sit, and act innocent, and wait to hear me scream out loud, upon finding the snake in the bathtub, or the lizards in the kitchen sink...'Scare mommy', was indeed one of their favorite games...
I think they got that from their father....my hubby has always loved all reptiles...when he was a kid, one time he was down at some river, and caught two big black snakes(non-poisonous ones)....he wanted to keep them, but knew his grandparents(With whom he lived)would never allow him to keep those snakes...
So he snuck them into the house, and hid them in his bedroom...when he went off to school, he put them in his bed, under the covers...while at school, his grandmother was putting his clean washed clothes away, and she noticed the bed moving...so she pulled back the covers, and there were those two big black snakes...
I guess she screamed, and the grandfather came in and got them out, and I guess killed them and buried them...
And when my hubby came home from school, a severe spanking was his reward for the snake trick...
So, my boys have an excuse...like father, like son...altho little boys are notorious for liking anything grizzly, or nasty, or dirty, or just plain rank...good thing I was raised with one brother, two male cousins, and a dad who never believed little girls were just little dainty things to be coddled...he made exceptions for me because I was a girl, but I was expected to carry my own weight with the boys...
Another story from FYAOC...
....Westy...
But I loved playing with the boys, more than the girls...loved playing 'cops and robbers' on our bikes, loved baseball, and I loved climbing trees, especially our cherry tree out in the back yard...whenever my parents could not find me, they knew where I was...up in the cherry tree...
You know, when we were up at Mt. Rainier, over Mothers Day, the snow along the roads was so high, and there was so much snow up there, I was a little scared that all of a sudden some of that snow would break loose and come piling down on us...
SEATTLE - Bulldozer crews were working on clearing a huge snow slide blocking lanes of Highway 20 in Whatcom county, Wash., between mileposts 161 and 163, Monday evening.andysmom and hair, how can there be snowslides on memorial day weekend
The slide is reported to be 30-feet tall and 100 feet long.
Lance Ramsey of the Washington State Patrol said the snow was very wet and heavy.
By midsummer, the snow on top of the mountain is 'glacial snow', and the regular snow from the winter and spring storms has melted away...
My first time up at Mt. Rainier, was the Memorial Day after we moved here...and I was amazed at the amount of snow still alongside the roads...a lot depends on how much snow accumulated during the spring and the winter....
When you go up to Mt. Rainier mid summer, and look at the snow on top, the snow has a blue hue to it...thats the glacial snow...But when we were up there over Mothers Day, all the snow was glistening white, and fresh...so snowslides, and avalanches can still occur, even this late in the year...
Its spooky, but also fascinating..
A&M mom: Bad local news story. Someone vandalized more than 70 markers at the big cemetery at North Street and Cleveland Avenue here in Oly/Tum. Channel 7 covered it. Stones turned over, broken or smashed, the night before Memorial Day. The first to discover it were relatives bringing flowers this morning. They interviewed a poor sad widow. Broke my heart.
Shameful, thought I would let you know... I assume it will be in the paper in the morning.
Have a good sleep...I should also go...Dizzy has aroused himself out of his catnip induced stupor, and is nagging me to come and pet him...
See ya tomorrow...
Good nite Westy...time to put on the night lite...
