Hi - I am back just now from town and haven't seen it yet! - Mom (or Dad) is just trying to keep them dry and warm... It is raining out.
They spotted the baby on then hobbit hole thread too, so we are all eager for a glimpse!

Yes.. it is in a good position to see it if she/he gets up again.. The other egg seems to be intact still.. Maybe a small hole on this side, but I can't be sure..

Eagle alert...I just was watching the eagles, and there is something which is out of the nest, and it looks suspiciously like a broken egg shell...of course, as my husband says, it could be anything, a piece of food, or a piece of paper, or something the wind blew in, but its different from a few hours ago....
I am going back and keeping tabs on the nest...I hope its the babies finally making their way into the world...

Well, it might have been nice if I had gone back and read all the other replies, before I burst in, with what I thought was news...DUH...I sure am slow on the uptake...its a grand day for us all, if the babies are making their debut today...

Palo...I was wondering when you were going to show up....its so exciting now, with at least one baby birdie...tho all I have seen so far is the cracked shell, but am patient...soon enough we will get to see the baby...
Helga did something like that once...one day I heard my husband hollering at Helga, who was out in the backyard...he was hollering 'Drop that Helga, drop it'...I ran to see what was going on, and there was Helga, with her mouth as wide open and big as I have ever seen it, and protruding from her mouth was the butt end of a rabbit....the whole head and front part of the rabbit were already down Helgas throat, and she was busy gobbling up the rest...quick as wink, the butt end of the rabbit, went up into Helgas mouth, and she ate that rabbit, in what seemed like one big gulp...
It actually made me sick to watch the whole thing, tho I realize Helga was simply reverting back to her natural state of being a hunter...
I could not feed any of the dogs that day...they all had to subsist on their doggie biscuits till the next day...I could just not stomach feeding them their regular food for that day....
Doggies will do, what Doggies will do...
