Don't even think about it! If you try to get rid of Hair, Overtaxed and I will feed you to a dragon. Or an eagle, we'll say it was you who called the Eagles stupid. Right OT? RIGHT!!! Wait...you're on my side? :)

Yeah! Americans are God's chosen instruments of vengeance and rescue! And we provide transportation to Elfs, Dwarves, and Hobbits in need all the time...
No, I don't think that the Eagles represent anything except eagles, any more than I think Dwarves represent anything but Dwarves, or that Isengard means anything. Tolkien's not the symbolism type at all, I'd say. But it's an interesting idea...

Just to interrupt with a question. Does anyone know if the next films will follow the book format or go chronologically from one group of characters to another? By book format I mean follow the adventures of what is left of the fellowship then go back and follow Frodo and Sam from when they crossed the lake.

From the spoilers I've read, they'll be switching between the three different storylines fairly frequently. I guess that means it will be mostly chronologically. They apparently aren't going to make us wait as long to find Frodo and Sam as Tolkien did. ;)

It's going to switch back and forth between characters, not like in the books. Stupid short attention spans! JK - it makes lots of sense to do it this way.

I am not sure we have heard the answer!... and I have wondered myself... I bet it jumps back and forth between stories.. (chronological)

Well, the only reason I thought they could be Americans was because of when they came into the battles. When all looked lost... then suddenly "The Eagles are coming." And if you lived during World War I and World War II, then both times, when the war looked lost, the Americans came.
Of course, I don't think the books are allegories... I just think they are great.

Mine are Brigadoon, 1776, Guys and Dolls, The Fantasticks, and Les Mis.
Haven't been able to see "Ragtime" but love the music.
Detest Annie.
Had my fill of Rodgers & Hammerstein.

Brigadoon, 1776, and My Fair Lady are the only musicals I can stand. I hate that sort of thing - but for some reason these three are different. 1776 is obvious; it's very patriotic and the songs are great. My Fair Lady I like because of the music, and because I like the story, but it does drag on now and then between songs.
Oh, bad image - just had a vision of the Hobbits performing the "Go Home with bonnie Jean" number out of Brigadoon....

Ragtime was wonderful. I saw it on Broadway with Brian Stokes Mitchell. Fabulous! I have seen Les Miz more times than I count. I was fortunate to see the original cast on Broadway, so that meant I saw Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean.
Don't really like Andrew Lloyd Webber that much.
Sondheim, of course, is a genius! I love what he does.
Last musical I saw was The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Brian Dennehey (Sp?) ... seen lately he's gained weight. Started a TV sitcom last fall... he is Irish, has sons that are firemen. Haven't seen it recently. Probably canceled.

I've done "Joseph" twice. That was enough.
My daughter is playing for her college production of "J.C. Superstar" in a few weeks.
Sondheim! I love "Company."

I have Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods, and Passion (another great one) on video. Saw the original cast of Into the Woods. Sat in the first row. Bernadette Peters was the witch, and Chip Zien the baker. Fantastic! Not that fond of Company though I do like "Being Alive".

I will tell you a funny Annie story. Saw the National Touring Company, so my Annie was excellent. Anyway, I worked for the Reagan campaign in 1980... and going into the election, the pundits were predicting that the election would be close. They were even saying that Carter might win.
Anyway, the night before the election, I went to see Annie. In Annie, Daddy Warbucks has invited Roosevelt to his house for dinner. And Warbucks says... "Democrats, democrats, what does one feed a democrat?"
The musical came to a stop while the audience hooted and hollared and clapped in appreciation. That was the first time I could relax... I thought, perhaps, Reagan would win.

Oh...you mean the "Annie" Annie. I thought you were talking about "Annie Get Your Gun." Silly me!
To: Overtaxed
Well, stay up with the conversation! :)
To: carton253
That post was the first time you mentioned Daddy Warbucks.
To: carton253
LOL! I remember that line. Our audience also responded well.:)
My strongest memory, though, is when the dog jumped into the orchestra pit..............
