My boss's wife just had a large melanoma removed from her back. They think she may have a small ocular melanoma.
My family had a bad experience with that type of cancer in a relative.
Do any of you have any knowledge of the best place in the country to be treated for melanoma? Thanks.
I had a small melanoma cancer removed from my face by a plastic surgeon who comes into the VA once/week. We caught it early and I’ve had no problems since.
My sister died at Duke. She was in the experimental bone marrow replacement program in 1991. When it wasn’t working out instead of sending her home to die with her children and family they kept saying they could just do one more procedure and save her. They didn’t want to let the guinea pig go.
My cousin’s wife just died two years ago at the Moffat Center. She had a turbo cancer likely from getting the vaxx and now the Moffat center has told my cousin he has a blood cancer and there’s no treatment for that either. Moffat is the last place I’d go.
MD Anderson is supposed to be good. I’d go there.
I wish I had something helpful to offer. My daughter, basically a leftist who believes her mother is a moron, has melanoma . She sees an 87 year old dermatologist who was a quack at 40. He just cuts big chunks out of her now and then. She refuses to listen to any alternative.

“City of Hope”
Perhaps.
VA covers them.
God Bless your Journey.
Sad to hear of your bad experiences...
I am sorry to learn of this. The longer I get into this house of horrors. the more I learn that it’s my responsibility to manage my own treatment.
Best. Dave
Indeed. I hope you are doing well. I think of you often.
I heard my daughter retired. I’m afraid it’s because of the melanoma. She hasn’t spoken to me since I lost everything in the Almeda fire 6 years ago. I just worry in silence..
Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle. I was successfully treated there for prostate cancer using proton therapy radiation, but they treat many other types of cancer also.
MD Anderson is generally considered to be one of the very best melanoma centers.
My wife had/has stage 4 melanoma, started on her leg (surgically removed and showed no indications of it anywhere else) and 7 months later I carried her into the ER, as she couldn’t walk. She had two melanoma tumors in her brain. They sent her to a well known melanoma specialist at Cedars Sinai and they did brain surgery, gamma knife radiation, and two years of immunotherapy. It’s almost 7 years since I took her to the ER, and she’s cancer free. Immunotherapies have been a game changer for melanoma. Go to melanoma.org and look for melanoma centers of excellence near you. Best of luck.
Don’t know about the best place in the country but I had it three time my doctor removed it told me use sun screen and long sleeve shirts no matter how hot it gets and a brimmed hat.
My dad had retinal melanoma. Had a radioactive seed implanted. Cured it.
Melanoma is changing very fast.
I tell people, if God forbid you had to get melanoma, 2026 is a good year to pick.
I send people to Dana Farber but MSKCC in NY and MD Anderson in Houston are great. Vinay Prasad at UCSF is great but I don’t know how hard he is to see, he has lots of irons in the fire.
I don’t know a lot about melanoma, but that story is pretty “common.”
Melanoma is one of those that can settle in and hide for a long time. I am saddened to here of your experience. Hopefully the folks handling your friend were able to catch it quickly.
When my wife was diagnosed One of the things they told us was to not read articles about it that were older than 18 months because treatments were changing so fast that you are reading ancient history.
In that context, 2010 was the “Middle Ages”. I am sure the detection and treatments have improved greatly over the past 15 years.
I will say a prayer for you and your friend.
See Jimmy Carter’s doctor. Carter had melanoma and lived to age 100.
Here is a link to a free downloadable resource from the former FLCCC (now IMA) doctors.
It explains what therapeutics work for various cancers and why….what metabolic or biochemical pathway is affected and why.

Hope this helps. there is quite a bit of information on this website for cancer patients.
