A Democratic Governors Association-backed Super PAC is pouring more than $4 million into boosting Gov. Kathy Hochul’s re-election bid as she desperately tries to fend off Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman in the tight race.
Greater Empire State — which began releasing anti-Blakeman attack ads Saturday — reported receiving $4.34 million in donations between late July and Oct. 2 to hype Hochul, according to its latest state campaign filings.
A big chunk of the money came from former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg; the Greater New York Hospital Association Management Corp.; and Leadership for New York, a super PAC run by Jay Martin, a political strategist and former executive director at the New York Apartment Association.
Each gave $1 million.
Other donations include $600,000 from the Sports Betting Alliance, which pushes online gambling interests, and John B. Hess, chief executive officer of Hess Corporation.
The Super PAC on Saturday released its first two ads of the general election, slamming “MAGA Bruce Blakeman” for his support of “Donald Trump’s cost-raising agenda that is hurting New York.”
Hochul said Trump’s name roughly 20 times during Tuesday’s debate as she’s tried to link his unpopularity in Democratic New York State – especially NYC — to Blakeman. However, the Nassau County executive said that although he and the president are friends the relationship won’t influence his decision-making if elected governor.
Blakeman spokeswoman Madison Spanodemos said the late cash infusion for Hochul shows just how desperate Dems are.

Hochul is fading. Let’s hope Dems everywhere are fading. They may have peaked too soon.
Oh. Right. The "Feed The Poor" programs.
Please let Hochul get flushed!
from the FRchives, sorted:
Hochul will probably win but if it’s close, that means the Republicans will do well which may help us to hold on to the House. Right now there’s 7 Republicans in NY so it’ll be huge if we can keep them all.
The Post’s editors can’t spell desperate?
Wow.
I can’t stand her voice. Can’t listen to her.

From coast to coast, Democratic governors are creating good-paying jobs, investing in education, lowering costs, expanding health care access, protecting reproductive freedom, and fighting to preserve our democracy.
In 2023, the DGA made historic investments in now DGA-chair Governor Andy Beshear’s successful reelection bid in Kentucky, who proved once again that by focusing on compassion, unity, and kitchen-table issues, Democrats can compete and win anywhere.
In 2024, we successfully held every state with a Democratic governorship, achieving double-digit wins in North Carolina, Washington, and Delaware. And in 2025, we elected two new Democratic governors in New Jersey and Virginia in landslide victories – even flipping the governorship from red to blue in VA. Now, with 36 states on the map in November, we have the chance to expand our blue firewall and hold Donald Trump accountable.
New Yorkers really need to get rid of Hochul and get a strong Republican in; it would certainly be a huge step in the right direction.
Heck, the NYP can’t tell a girl from a boy let alone title spelling!
Here’s hoping that plastiface loses.
I want to see that woman kicked out of office. She is a cold radical leftist.
She looks and sounds like a meth addict.
$4.3 Million is pretty steep for a New Yawk Hooker.
