JUST IN: Woke Nike to Be Removed From S&P 100 After Hitting 12-Year Low Stock Price

Nike is set to be removed from the S&P 100, a subset of the S&P 500 that tracks 100 major blue-chip companies across multiple industry groups, later this month.

This comes after the company lost nearly 80% of its value since 2021.

As The Gateway Pundit reported last month, the woke brand’s stock price plunged to a 12-year low after spending the last decade championing left-wing social justice causes.

As of Saturday, the company has a market cap of roughly $57 billion, losing more than $200 billion in value since its all-time high in November 2021.

The stock is down roughly 40% year-to-date, trading at $38.41.

Now, they're set to be axed from the S&P 100 before the markets open on September 21, 2026, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices.

More from the New York Post: Federal Realty, which operates the center, told the Silicon Valley Business Journal that the departure was “not a decision specific to this market or property” — and part of a broader shift, as the company tries to find the way forward.

The downsizing comes as Nike announced major global operations changes in April of this year — laying off approximately 1,400 employees working in global operations, mostly in the technology sector.

The changes were designed to optimize the company’s supply chain footprint and modernize their use of technology to create “a more responsive, resilient, responsible, and efficient company,” according to Nike.

The iconic brand has been in a sales slump, with both footwear and equipment showing negative growth, revenue from Nike stores down 7%, and Converse revenue down 32%. Nike Direct revenue fell 9%, while Nike Digital was fell by 12%.

Just an update to those who’ve been following the decline of Nike for the last several months.

https://changemanagementinsight.com/nike-digital-transformation-case-study/

In a world where shopping habits, technology, and expectations change every day, even giant brands must adapt or fall behind.

Nike is one brand that chose to embrace the digital wave instead of resisting it.

Over the past few years, Nike has shifted from mostly relying on stores and wholesale partners to putting more weight on digital channels and selling directly to consumers.

The board should be sued by the shareholders for malfeasance.

https://finchannel.com/why-nike-stock-has-fallen-so-much/134448/american-business-trends/2026/09/

In short, Nike’s stock decline reflects several measurable problems: falling China sales, declining direct-to-consumer revenue, weaker overall sales and expectations of further declines before the turnaround produces stronger results.

Nike even had transvestite Dylan Mulvaney, of Bud Light infamy, endorsing their female sports clothing line.

The marketing shift was perhaps the most visible change. Nike’s historical advertising was unapologetically about winning. The tagline “Just Do It” was assertive. The tone was confident, sometimes pugnacious. This worked because it matched the product and the athletes. When you have the best products and the best athletes, the assertive tone reads as earned. When the product cadence slips, the same tone reads differently. During the Donahoe-era tenure, the company’s messaging softened. Ads became more whimsical, focused on participation rather than victory, and emphasised social themes. A strategy that has worked for other brands but, for Nike, represented a departure from what had made the brand distinctive. More importantly, in my view, the messaging mix did not pair cleanly with the product cycle of the same period.

I try hard not to route against Americans companies, especially “iconic” ones, but for Nike I will gladly make an exception. Let all of their anti-American freak heroes save them from the dustbin of history. Shame still...

Re: Post 8

Only a "change management" website would try to sell Nike as digital advertising success story.

From the journal article at the link in your comment: For example, in fiscal 2023, digital sales made up 26% of Nike’s total revenue, a big jump from only about 10% in 2019.

That's not a sign of success, it's a sign of failure. Of course their digital sales was increasing as a percentage of their entire sales - they've been losing in-store sales for more than a decade.

From the article: One of the most talked-about decisions came in 2019, when Nike officially ended its partnership with Amazon. The brand cited a desire to have “more direct, personal relationships” with its consumers.

Translation: They also couldn't compete in an online market.

From the article: Nike also scaled back its presence in many traditional retail stores, focusing instead on select, strategic partners. This decision allowed Nike to better control pricing, presentation, and customer data—strengthening its brand image while improving profitability.

Translation: "better control pricing" by selecting stores that didn't carry or carried less selection from Nike's competitors.

From the article: To strengthen customer loyalty, Nike launched Nike Membership, a free program that offered users exclusive benefits like early access to products, personalized content, and rewards. Members also receive tailored workout plans, invites to local events, and product suggestions based on their behavior.

Translation: Marketing. Spam Marketing. For footwear. For sports, recreation, and maybe leisure. "Let's antagonize our customers. JoJo The Clown in Marketing says it's a good idea."
