An airline passenger was duct-taped and zip-tied by other travelers and crew after he hurled racist and homophobic slurs in an unhinged mid-flight meltdown — forcing the plane to divert on Thursday night, according to a report.
The bigoted passenger was on American Airlines flight 618 from Dallas to Newark when he flew off the handle with a fire-and-brimstone-fueled diatribe at his seatmate around 10:15 p.m., prompting a black flight attendant and passengers to step in and restrain him.
When the flight attendant intervened, the buffoon then hurled the n-word at him and spewed anti-gay slurs, according to TMZ.
Footage shows the man mummy-like, bound and tied to his seat — his hands, head and torso restrained.
As the knucklehead went completely off the rails he lashed out physically, smacking his seatmate and smashing his computer.
A female passenger then began to help the man next to the blowhard but the creep pushed her back.
Three other male passengers then jumped in and contained the unruly man with duct tape and zip ties.
American Airlines told The Post in a statement that the flight was diverted to Baltimore “due to a disruptive customer” and that when the plane landed “law enforcement met the aircraft and assisted with deplaning the customer before the flight continued to its destination.”

I've gotten around this by having about 10 feet of duct tape wrapped onto 3-4 Bic stick pens. If asked, It's easier grip with my hand arthritis.
An Old Army field technique, so we always had some 100mph tape/duct tape in our pocket. Adapted to modern air travel restrictions.
Nowadays I observe that most airlines have restraints on-board available to the flight crews.
I also carry several handfuls of change in my carrion/carry-on bag. For parking meters. And always wear socks.
Socks + coins + duct tape = ? You figure it out before the TSA does.

All I remember is the Gawd-awful United Airlines ultra-annoying jingle.
And the airlines served real meals to all passengers in that era. I remember flying from Chicago to Detroit, barely 1 hour flight, and the airline served everyone a full meal!

I knew when I saw the headline it was a middle-aged white, male, a-hole.
He deserves everything he gets. Physically restrained, beat down, flight diverted (I hope he’s liable financially for that), and arrested on touchdown.
This is how all flying animals should be treated.
United has 4000 flights per day. They can employ 2500 ex cops vets and otherwise astute individuals to occupy 3/4 of the flights and keep unruly passengers wary of pulling crap like this.
And hire security trained level flight attendants pay them extra. Or reduce the amount of attendants replace with security
This group was unable to properly secure this passenger. Duct tape? Unruly other passengers? Law suits.
American Airlines. Really?
