If you have a WinCo in your area, they have much better prices.

I’ll have to do my own price checks before I believe that Kroger is cheaper than Walmart.

I’m surprised. I thought Kroger would have been the highest.

In our area, Homeland, formerly Safeway, has bought up almost all the grocery stores in the State except Kroger, which is only in the OKC area. Their prices are awful, though they occasionally have a good loss leader or two.

It should be noted this is a national survey and probably very accurate.

In Texas HEB kicks everyone’s ass. Walmart is close on price but I find substandard in service. At HEB I find all personnel pleasant in the extreme. What more can you want with the same low prices.

C’mon, Man!

The LEAST expensive stores are the ones in the inner city that have not closed yet.

One does not need a purse or wallet. Just grab a cart and take what you “need.”

Anyone complains, just yell racism and white privilege!

Kroger is couponing these staples, it seems to me they want to avoid reducing prices but they want to be competitive so the coupons! And Aldi in our county closed up and Kroger and Save-A-Lot are the only choices left.

Price be damned.

Our Florida stores are listed but the best would not deserve being added to just the list of good stores. That is, excellent, “PUBLIX.” Yes, Publix is expensive but they have a larger number of choices and quality unquestioned.
Found in Florida, and other Southern states. We shop at all mentioned.

Not in our neighborhood. Kroger is much higher than the Wal-Mart community store which is just a grocery store.

I shopped at Ralph’s (Kroger) for many years in So Calif. Lately I shop at Walmart, because Walmart has cheaper prices by far and the service is just as nice as Ralph’s.

If you are looking for cheap foods of high quality in my area, Bay Area, Ca. I have two, maybe three suggestions;
A. Grocery Outlet (Bargain Market).
B. Smart & Final
C. Lucky’s

Both A, & B. are loosely modeled after the Warehouse Model, where particular brand names are not always available, but something similar in that price range is. There meats, fish , fruits and fresh vegetables are great. I have no complaints. A & B still have plenty of live cashiers.

I’m fine with that too. I don’t mind sharing a friendly word with the cashier from time to time.
I rarely use the Self Serve Cashier, those which still remain. Not always easy to purchase certain items without asking for assistance.

When they refer to Kroger, do they also include the other grocery store chains Kroger owns, like Pick N Save and Metro Market?

Not sure if it is a National store but Grocery Outlet is my favorite grocery store. Way cheaper than Walmart or Kroger.

We don’t have Kroger in Baltimore. I remember my mom shopping there when I was a kid in Columbus. There was also Big Bear. I think BB went defunct.

I'm 82. Walmart delivers my groceries. What a blessing.

But I still go to Aldi for all my meats...they're the best and cheapest.

I'm lucky...both stores are close by.

No mention of Food Lion? My choice (and there is a Walmart and Kroger directly across the street) Maybe just habit because Food Lion was there long before them.
