You’ve never been to a Buck-ees? Picture a convenience store the size of a 1970s Walmart (up to 74,000 square feet), with a clothing section and a barbecue stand, and over 100 gasoline pumps out front.

Host guy towered over them at six foot something and had an array of high-powered big game rifles for his guests to try out. Everyone was watching.
BOOM! Little guy flew backward from recoil into a somersault, jumped up and was eager to try it again. This happened to his friends as well until two started bracing the one who was shooting. You'd have thought they'd died and went to heaven they were so happy.
Seeing all the stories about foreign visitors here for the World Cup made me remember that and smile.

Yes. Some of the Doolittle raiders crashed in China and were helped by the local people.

Besides seizing local airfields, Japanese troops launched massive reprisal campaigns against the local population by “slaughtering every man and child.” Anywhere from over 20,000 to as many as 250,000 Chinese died in the Japanese reprisals, the majority civilians.

There are 3-4 in GA now. There’s one near Auburn. There are a couple in KY. There’s at least one under construction in TN. There’s popping up everywhere.
One of the GA ones is about 35 minutes from me, in a direction we travel fairly regularly. We have the Buc-ee’s stop down to a science, including gauging when to punt and not stop.
Don’t forget the massive very clean bathrooms. Women certainly don’t.

LOL, I ended up typing a really long response because the image was taken from the movie “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo”, a movie based on a book that was significant to me (of the same name) about the historic Doolittle Raid in April 1942.
I realized you might refuse to read any more of my posts after that because it was so long, that I figured I would just give you the short answer!
Wounded American pilots of the Doolittle Raid were rescued by Chinese, who moved them from town to town, just ahead of the Japanese Army which was often only hours behind them, hot on their heels.
And the Japanese were slaughtering entire populations of Chinese in retribution for the raid.
The wounded Americans who had to be carried were being cared for in a hotel when they had to leave suddenly because the Japanese were advancing faster than expected.
As the stretchers were carried out in front of this elderly Chinese woman, they focused on her face, and it showed tears coming out of her eyes as those badly wounded Americans who had bombed the murderous Japanese passed in front of her.
That said, I have thoroughly enjoyed that people from all over the world have come to the USA, they love the way we live life (mostly) and they realize (as I we all generally do) that Americans are fundamentally pretty good, kind, and engaging people, not the fork-tailed devils the media and governments around the world paint us.
I have spent a lot of time exploring this country by car, and I enjoy interacting with my fellow Americans.
I was thrilled that they could come here and validate what I already know-this is a blessed place to live, and people are generally pretty kind and helpful.
I can't watch those without a big grin nearly all the time.
