California’s revolt: Spencer Pratt, Steve Hilton stun Democrats in early result shake-up
California Post ^ | 6/03/26 | Josh Koehn

Posted on 06/04/2026 12:23:45 PM PDT by Libloather

California voters frustrated by the routine failures of state and local leadership look set to send Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton to runoff elections for mayor and governor after the first few ballot drops.

In a major rebuke of Democratic rule in both Los Angeles and the state, both Pratt and Hilton held their positions steady Wednesday night. Hilton remained in the lead for the governor’s race with 27.6% of the vote and Xavier Becerra was in second place with 25.6% with 56% of the ballots counted.

Pratt remained in second place with 29.91% of the vote behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass at 34.97%. Nithya Raman trailed Pratt in third place with 22.81%.

Pratt, who rose to fame as the bad boy in MTV’s show “The Hills,” is nipping at the heels of Bass — all but assuring the two will meet again in November’s general election. Pratt trailed Bass by fewer than 27,000 votes with 63% of the ballots counted, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder.

Matthew Klink, a conservative political strategist in Los Angeles, told The Post that Pratt has a real chance if his “clever” campaign — fueled by inventive AI videos and street art exposing the city’s blight and corruption — continues to pour it on thick and avoid the status quo of policy papers and canned statements.

Pratt’s persistent banging of the drum on public safety issues and the lackluster response to the deadly LA wildfires made a mark.

“More than 60% of city of Los Angeles voters chose another candidate than the mayor,” Klink said, noting lefty Councilmember Nithya Raman’s ability to also siphon votes while currently sitting in third place.

“Clearly, Bass is vulnerable.”

..whose betting on Raman to get the 2nd slot?

Probably the same people working hard right now to steal it for her.

This “everybody in one runoff primary” is designed to make the Dems permanently in power. Pratt can get 30%, but in the general election the votes will still go to anyone with a “D” by their name.

Its a setup. After the general, the headlines will say “Landslide for Bass Repudiates Upstart Pratt”, when she gets 51% and Pratt gets 40%.

The fix is this: For a non-democrat to win the general, the top 2 in the primary have to be non-Democrats.

So don’t get too excited.

Do you know how to build a movement? You rarely get a win right out of the box like we did with Trump. First you have to go through Goldwater '64, and Reagan '76 and '80.

I was responding to those who claimed that the cheat won't even allow Pratt into the General. It will be hard tyocheat Raman into the runoff.

You've seen Pratt's work, and those of his supporters. I am NOT expecting him to win the General, but I also won't write him off. The headlines get less and less relevant as newspapers and even TV news shrink in importance. If he runs a great campaign and loses, especially if he is within the margin of cheat, it will only make the movement stronger. Whining about cheating without doing anything about it is not helpful.

Until it is stolen from them.

California Republicans should do what Dems do. Riot. Beat cops. Burn down things. Threaten lives. Try to assassinate politicians and judges.

The government of California seems to enjoy it.

Never ever turn your back on a brood of venomous vipers, they will strike you in a heartbeat. Analogous to the Kalifornia Democrat machine’s ruthless tactics to steal elections and ballot measures.

Polymarket has Raman with a 79 percent chance of making it to round 2..so yes they are expecting her to get all the votes and Pratt gets nothing

We will see. If I were a betting man (I'm not), I would take the other side of that bet.

That was an entertaining show;
“On a scale of one to ten, ten being metaphysical certitude...”

Novak and Germond were my favorites, actual reporters, not pretty boy anchors.

Always pictured Germond at the track, nose in the racing form, cigar in his mouth, a flask in his pocket.

Cuba is about to join the civilized world. Better send Bass to N Korea. They rival Hollyweird in making fiction seem real.

The difference between Raman and Pratt is substantial, with Pratt having about 25% of the vote more than Raman.

The difference, at this time in 2:45p.m., is diminishing rapidly. Raman could be past Pratt by noon tomorrow.

Sadly I’d be very surprised if either of them even get over 40% in the fall.

That is my opinion as well.

The way it should be is this, when you have two Republicans and two Democrats running, the top Republican gets in to the runoff along with the top Dem..so it should be Steve Hilton and let Becerra and Steyer vie for the top spot..same goes for mayor, it should be between Bass and Raman..and Pratt gets in as the Republican..

The next ballot drop already came in, basically no change, Bass at 35 percent, Pratt at 29.95 and Raman with 23 percent
