North Korea’s constitution now calls for an immediate retaliatory nuclear missile strike if leader Kim Jong Un is killed by a foreign power.
The change, believed to have been adopted earlier this year, was made soon after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was wiped out in the US-Israeli strikes, the Telegraph reported.
“If the command-and-control system over the state’s nuclear forces is placed in danger by hostile forces’ attacks … a nuclear strike shall be launched automatically and immediately,” the revised Article 3 of North Korea’s nuclear-policy law now reads.
The revision, likely agreed on by the Supreme People’s Assembly, was only made public at a South Korean government intelligence briefing last week.
While the North Korean dictator already has control of the country’s nuclear forces, the update to the constitution makes clear what should occur if he is assassinated.
“This may have been policy before, but it has added emphasis now it has been enshrined in the constitution,” said Andrei Lankov, a professor of international relations at Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea.
“Iran was the wake-up call,” Lankov said. “North Korea saw the remarkable efficiency of the US-Israeli decapitation attacks, which immediately eliminated the greater part of the Iranian leadership, and they must now be terrified.”

Since all the Kims are gods, they are immortal; Kim dying of any cause must, therefore, be an act of a foreign power
The only foreign powers he needs to worry about are his Chinese puppet masters.
It seems like China would take some action regarding this, not that we would know of it or see it, but it does seem like they would not accept this as a real policy.
One would think the retaliatory nuclear strikes on North Korea would spread radiation into China.
I don’t believe the ChiComs would be happy with that scenario.
It says Attacked, not killed. It should just say if he is “Maduro’ed”
Uh, isn’t God a foreign power to them?
And if one of his own generals polishes him off, then what?
This is a dead letter. If KJU is dead, whoever is left in power would be most focused on staying alive. Why would the successor pay any attention to this new Constitutional requirement.
That is almost certainly true, but after generations of that space alien cult nation of isolation and fantasy, and human erasure and mind control, and religious leader worship, who knows how crazy they are.
It’s the Sorks’ problem. Should the north collapse every North Korean kid should spend a month in a South Korean home just to show what modern life is. That would require a 30 day national holiday. After 70 years it’s the minimum.
However, Kim Jong Un is not the kind of man that is likely to have too many friends after he is dead.
Unless NK had submarines armed with nukes, first nuclear strike is the winner who takes it all.
It would take a year, minimum, to get them over the shock of receiving proper nutrition, clothing, education and human caring after surviving through hardships, perpetual fear and non-stop propaganda.
That’s why I say kids. They’ll pick it up quicker and carry it on into adulthood. The country can came to some kind of halt for 30 days. Either that or a slowdown. Hopefully other nations will provide aid.
No mention of kidnapping?
Kind of like a nation-wide suicide pact....
