Why managers are cutting Gen Z so fast, and the behaviors behind it
Daily Overview ^ | 01/11/2026 | Silas Redmond

Managers across industries are terminating Generation Z employees at a pace that is starting to reshape early career norms. Instead of the traditional multi‑year ramp, many Gen Z hires are being cut within months, as supervisors point to recurring behavior patterns and a widening gap between expectations on both sides. The trend is forcing companies, and young workers, to confront what is really driving these rapid exits and how much of the problem lies with individual conduct versus outdated systems.

At the center of the tension is a perception that Gen Z brings fresh energy but also a different relationship to authority, feedback, and work itself. Managers describe a cohort that is highly vocal about values and boundaries, while leaders still measure performance through reliability, initiative, and communication. The collision between those standards is where jobs are being lost fastest. […]

A detailed rundown of (why) reasons bosses are (firing Gen Z) highlights patterns like chronic lateness, ignoring dress codes, and what supervisors interpret as disrespectful tone in emails or chat. Another gallery of employer feedback notes that a perceived lack of motivation sits at the top of the list, followed closely by poor communication and difficulty accepting feedback. From the managerial vantage point, these are not abstract generational quirks but concrete behaviors that make it hard to trust someone with clients, deadlines, or confidential work. …

Which sort of explains why my company, at my 67 years of age, seems to want me to stay around pretty-much as long as I like.

I've seen Gen-X in action - I don't blame companies for eschewing them.

Companies hire people to do the work.
So you have to do what they demand, not what do you think is outdated system!
Work is work, mostly you have to do stuff which is not interesting or fun. That’s why they pay you!

What facts is the premise of this article based on? Did someone do a survey? Are the reasons statistically sound or anecdotal?

"If managers can move from reflexive frustration to structured support, and if young workers can meet them halfway on reliability and respect, the current wave of fast firings does not have to define an entire generation’s career start.

If they don't make all-around quality their top priority, they might as well hang it up.

Statistical Process Control establishes allowable variation and measures process performance, revealing previously unforeseen potential for higher precision and accuracy, while also indicating where fewer controls are tolerable. Continuous Improvement is achieved with due diligence throughout the life-cycle of the part.

If I was starting out today, I would try to see myself as being "the part" and that it has a managerial blueprint to follow. The quality of my work will be measurable to the extent that my job and career may depend on it. If "Quality" is just another annoying buzzword to me then I should expect to be scrapped, like any other defective part.

Where were the parents?

Watch an episode of "Landman"...with Ashley and daughter Ainsley. You'll see it.

RE: “They are barely literate...”

For a related generational perspective, my father who was a college professor told me about this in the 1980. Some of the students were sadly deficient in skills such as writing.

Oh, I see it.

Daily.

But nobody ever takes issue with parents who insist the State parent their kids for them.

Why is that?

Most of them are self culling.
They change jobs too frequently and are less than dependable in their work habits. If you don’t fire them they usually self terminate and with out notice
To those hiring, ask the right questions of references and slow their merry going around.

Danger: Turning on Gen Z.

HUGE opportunity: Bring them along. Their parents, grandparents, and older sibs "raised" them... they are the product of us!

Don't blame the government school system. That's a cop-out. We have known for fifty years that school and popular Marxist culture are toxic!

TPUSA shows that there is great potential here.

Start by just teaching them basic manners and business etiquette, maybe some early career guidance.

Support them in all ways, as we were supported. It will save the country.

Can the number of the beast exist in a form not of universal sameness? Could it exist in a switched up form like something personal to everyone? i.e. a phone number that holds your entire identity and life story?

I remember in one of my reviews which actually was a very good one with a large raise as well, a senior boss noted he could count on my opinion whether he wanted it or not. I asked him about it and he said it was nice to have someone speak up and give a different opinion instead of the “yes” people around him.

Glad I’m long retired..I wouldn’t put up with any shxt from anyone and the the LGBTWRSTUVWXYZ freak show was a definite NO. HR hated me but my office and crew liked me. Several left when I retired.

I think this has less to do with schools and more to do with “gentle parenting.”

In the corporate world, I noticed a definite change around the mid to late 2000s. For the first time in my career, we would interview entry level candidates in their mid-20s with top academic credentials from top graduate schools … who had never been employed at any time in their lives. These were the employees who had the most difficult time getting acclimated to a work environment.

For the life of me, I can’t imagine how someone can reach the age of 25 without ever holding a job.

This is directly attributable to the clownshow of the American school system. People disparaged the 50s 60s and 70s schools as being the factory model teaching children the workstation life.

But it taught them how to behave and how to work.

The later model of no assigned desks, backpacks and cubbies untethered them from the workstation/ desk model but made them more anxious because there was yet another decision/boundary they had to make with its social ramifications.

The current no boundaries permissive model in schools have essentially provided a feral unmanageable screen addicted workforce with clownshow results.

The parents were working in the 2 working parent model that the state fostered to keep wages low for business.

Abortion actually is of the most benefit to businesses and the State. Interesting vhow this too has been sold as a right of women
