You would have never guessed that Bill Gates was backing this new carbon-based butter, would you?
Butter made from carbon tastes like the real thing, gets backing from Bill Gates A company in Batavia, Illinois is making butter in a way you've never seen before. No animals, no plants, no oils; this butter is made from carbon. WWW.CBSNEWS.COM
https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/butter-carbon-bill-gates-batavia-illinois/
This stuff is being produced by Savor in the Chicago suburbs. The butter uses no animals, no plants, and no oils.
I simply cannot fathom the idea, so I'll quote Bill Gates' blog:
They ultimately developed a process that involves taking carbon dioxide from the air and hydrogen from water, heating them up, and oxidizing them to trigger the separation of fatty acids and then the formulation of fat. The result is real fat molecules like the ones we get from milk, cheese, beef, and vegetable oils.
Mix that fat with water and lecithin, and Voila, you've got butter. And it apparently tastes just like the real thing.
So we've now got lab-made butter backed by Bill Gates coming out of Chicago.
Essentially, this is "green" butter. No greenhouse gasses, no farmland, no animals -- just made in an industrial park in Chicago (though Savor is based in San Jose, California).
Science fiction, but real.
Here's more from Gates' 2024 blog post:
The idea of switching to lab-made fats and oils may seem strange at first. But their potential to significantly reduce our carbon footprint is immense. By harnessing proven technologies and processes, we get one step closer to achieving our climate goals.
Bill Gates loves this carbon-made butter, and Savor says it will be on shelves by 2027.
Well, butter can be used as a ‘lubricant’..............
Let me know when the butter companies start advertising “Tastes just like Bill Gates Goo!”
.
We have fake meat, fake milk, fake butter, fake ice cream next?..........
So? It comes from a cow? It’s not like you are killing the cow or torturing it in order to get the milk in order to make the cheese or butter.
Why his irrational fear of cows? Was he chased by one as a child?
Truth be told, it was a disastrous episode of ‘Cow Tipping’ as a child...................🙄
He wants to stop cow farts.............
Oh brother!
I tried a Beyond Burger when it was on sale at local store.
One bite, spit it out, threw the rest away. Vegan neighbor didn’t even try it, ingredients sucked so much.
Food=free food sounds even worse.

Well... I have always been one to “try anything ONCE” when it comes to different foods. But I don’t consider insects as food and never will... and I will never trust a damned thing that Gates, or any of his ghoulish ilk, pushes as “food”. Other than that, I’m usually pretty adventurous. Even tried raw oysters, kale and escargo. Didn’t care for it.
If someone offers me a bite of a vegan burger, I might take one. But I won’t be spending ‘my’ money on any of that crap.
I really like raw oysters, kale and escargot. Dad taught me when I was a preschooler to taste everything a few times before I decided I didn’t like it.
Look forward to a Trip to New Orleans later this year, eating at Antoines, where Oysters Rockerfeller were invented. Hugely expensive, but worth it as a special treat.
He’s feeding his ego he wants his name to be household name?.
With Epstein’s play ground closed he’s real cranky.
Well, every other fake food they’ve introduced has proven to be harmful to human health.
Baby formula, artificial sweeteners, transfats, I’m sure lab grown meat is in that category, and now more fake fat.
It comes in when they say “organic molecules” I’d wager.

You will love New Orleans food. I do love fried oysters and oyster stew. I just don’t like the raw aspect. I did have a dish of escargo where it was baked in a puff pastry and that was good. But any other way... nah.
Be sure and try the Crawfish or Shrimp Etoufee, Boudin and Gumbo while there. I’m a Cajun food nut. It’s only second to Mexican cooking in my favorites. Asian third, Italian fourth. Now I’m hungry.... dang it.
It’s “ORGANIC”!.............
So is Petroleum!..................
YUCK
Went to NOLA every Easter vacation when I was a teen. My beloved grandmother managed a pretty little hotel right on the park. My dad was in the restaurant biz and he and the owner of Antoine’s liked to talk about food. Loved their pompano.
Taking ny daughter soon, staying at same place, now Parkside Inn.
Daughter is a little afraid to go since that idiot drove a truck into people on the street, killing some.
I’ve still got six pounds of butter in the freezer from the last Kwik Trip sale @ $2.99/#.
For someone who is supposed to be SO SMART - he sure is a doorknob when it comes to what HUMAN BEINGS actually want or need in this world.
“”Daughter is a little afraid to go since that idiot drove a truck into people on the street, killing some.””
That issue, a stupid one, has probably been fixed by now. They can’t afford the loss of tourism. When I went, there was always cop cars parked and blocking off the main streets in the quarter. Easy, logical, no Einsteinian thinking required and no big expenditure needed. But that was back in the 70s, 80s and 90s... and the city PTBs got a lot dumber after that.
