At 62, Phyllis Jones felt trapped in darkness. She was traumatized by her mother’s recent death, ongoing pandemic stress and an increasingly toxic work environment. A sudden panic attack led to a medical leave.

Her depression worsened until the day her 33-year-old son sadly told her, “Mom, I didn’t think I would have to be your caregiver at this stage in your life.” “For me, that was the wake-up call,” Jones, now 66, told CNN. “That’s when I found the POINTER study and my life changed. What I accomplished during the study was phenomenal — I’m a new person.” The Protect Brain Health Through Lifestyle Intervention to Reduce Risk, or U.S. POINTER study, is the largest randomized clinical trial in the United States designed to examine whether lifestyle interventions can protect cognitive function in older adults.

“These are cognitively healthy people between the ages of 60 and 79 who, to be in the study, had to be completely sedentary and at risk for dementia due to health issues such as prediabetes and borderline high blood pressure,” said principal investigator Laura Baker, a professor of gerontology, geriatrics and internal medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

I retired Jan 2024 and they asked me to come back PT so I did in Sept 2024. My problem was that I didn’t spend a full year in retirement. I don’t know what it is like to not work from Sept to Jan.

I’m 63, my wife died last year and I have few friends or family. I spend most of my time alone.

Yes. Others not as good.
The research on Niacin for heart effects goes back to the 1950s.

Glad to hear you're aware of one of the "SECRETS" to having good HEALTH and LONGEVITY of LIFE.

The "SECRET" I speak of is "DIET & EXERCISE" which primarily controls your health, especially as a "Senior Citizen."

I offer you a link to some VERY IMPORTANT information regarding "Senior Health." I was introduced to this about 3 months ago and following it has made a SIGNIFICANT difference in "How much Better I Feel".

This is INFORMATION you should know as you AGE.. we ALL NEED to KNOW what confronts us..

In MY opinion this is PROFOUND information because SO FEW people have ever heard of it.

The ONLY person I could find that had ever even heard of "Sarcopenia" was my Chiropractor, Dr. Sam Stewart.

Although the information is SIMPLE, I had NEVER heard of "Sarcopenia" before and was oblivious to its DEVASTATING RAMIFICATIONS.
I'm about 4 weeks into this and I give it VERY HIGH MARKS because it works for me with a MINIMUM of effort... I'm REVERSING my situation. The KEY: just follow through.. DO IT!

Thanks for sharing. I’m very familiar with sarcopenia—it’s essentially age-related muscle loss, which becomes more of a concern past midlife, especially without sufficient protein intake and resistance training.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better! That’s what matters.

I already follow a solid exercise and dietary routine tailored for muscle preservation and metabolic health, but I’ll give the video a look to see what insights it offers.

As an estate planner I have observed older folks for over 40 years. This data rings true with my experience. We need to be expected somewhere to do something on a routine basis. We need to stay significant. We need to move. We need to make ourselves do things we don’t want to do. I am 70 now and never will retire as long as I have any ability to work.
