The laser weapon uses a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) module to ascertain the location of objects.

It is a dream for many to get a lightsaber used in Star Wars movies, or a military-grade drone, missile-zapping laser weapon being tested by armies globally. However, a low-powered laser weapon could be their best bet, and it can do wonders against a global enemy – mosquitoes.
A Chinese firm has come up with a laser weapon design that it claims can kill up to 30 mosquitoes every second.
The gadget – called Photon Matrix – is a “prototype of the first mosquito air defense system capable of identifying and neutralizing mosquitoes using high-specification LiDAR technology.”
It is currently posted on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo, and the campaign has already met the initial request put forth by Jim Wong from Changzhou, China.
According to Jim’s claims, the laser weapon, by design, will not harm humans and pets and is safe for use indoors and outdoors.
Laser weapon for killing mosquitoes While using lasers to kill mosquitoes might sound too futuristic or a bit of overkill, the menace posed by the insect is huge.
Around the world, mosquitoes account for many millions of cases and over a hundred thousand deaths annually. Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, and Encephalitis are some diseases carried by different species of mosquitoes, and one small bite is all it takes to transfer the disease to humans.
Therefore, a plug-and-play gadget for killing mosquitoes sounds wonderful.
As per the details available on the Indiegogo page for the device, the basic edition of Photon Matrix has a waterproof design and can be installed easily. It can be powered by a simple power bank or through a portable power station for installation in outdoor areas like a lawn or backyard.
The compact device on display is said to have a range of 9.84 feet (3 meters) for the basic version, which goes up to 19.6 feet (6 meters) for the pro version. Both the basic and pro versions have a scan angle of 90 degrees.
While the basic version is on offer for $468 (early bird price), the pro version is available for $668.
How does Photon Matrix work? The product says it uses a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) module to ascertain the location of objects in its surroundings. The light refracted by the LiDAR returns to the gadget, which then calculates the location and distance of the mosquito.
The product claims to be able to detect the mosquito and ascertain its angle and size within just three milliseconds.
As soon as the mosquito is detected, a second laser beam is directed towards it to kill it. Moreover, it also scans the surroundings to detect larger objects such as people and pets, and the machine won’t fire in their direction if there is any chance of it hitting them.
Photon Matrix can detect objects that are flying at a top speed of 3.3 feet (one meter) per second. Therefore, house flies won’t be fatally hit by it unless they are flying really slowly.
However, mosquitoes usually fly at a much slower pace than house flies, and they will be easily hit by the laser beams thrown by the device.

The product is still in the development phase, and the company expects to ship the first units of the product in October this year, although major production is slated to commence by March 2026.
While the concept looks and sounds amazing, it remains to be seen how it actually performs in real-world conditions.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Good defensive device against poison laden mini drones
Sounds too good to be true.
Watch the eyes
What could possibly go wrong? “Honey, the mosquitoes are all dead but I am blind.”
You just know some redneck will figure out how to connect it to an AR-15........................
I don’t want a laser strong enough to “zap” mosquitoes anywhere near my eyes.
They perfect this thing, and to me, they are no longer the Yellow Peril. The enemy of the mosquito is my friend.
Ok...I sort of want one but leery about the China connection.
Our electric “zappers” work just fine.
It really just sprays DDT everywhere but there’s flashing lights to make you feel better.
I’m an owner of a company that ties facial recognition software to a 50 cal deployed in Korea and certain other high risk areas. So far they have a human that lets it kill or not kill.
But it can easily be set on auto. Or to kill anything with a human face within a box.
Team (3 people) mobile and packable. Blows itself up if you tamper with it without the key card.
As it works now, South Koran soldiers get scanned in and also have what is essentially a passive IFF beacon and then wander into the kill box.
It made me realize the robots will win if they want to fight.
/s ?
Ours always either attracted more bugs or got so full of moths they’d short out.
And advertised on TV. Over and over.
I’ll stick with barn swallows. They wreck havoc on the wasps and other flying insects around my farm.
Ours are rackets. Ah, the sweet, sweet smell of burned mosquitos.
I wonder who they stole the technology from...
"You just know some redneck will figure out how to connect it to an AR-15..."
So was I!...................😁
