A 51-year-old Dallas letter carrier, Jacob Taylor, died over the weekend after collapsing on his route.
Taylor's cause of death is still unknown pending the results of an autopsy.
The National Association of Letter Carriers fears his death could have been related because of how similar it was to the death of Eugene Gates, who died of heat exhaustion two years ago.

How can you tell the vans don’t have AC every day?
😉
When you control the mail you control……information…….
A friend died in his back yard of burst artery in his stomach. He was quite fit. They estimate he bled to death internally within a couple minutes.
No one had any idea he had an aneurysm in this major artery.
Hydration, hydration, hydration times ten when its hot.
The government isn’t supposed to be profitable. And USPS wouldn’t be nearly as deep in the red if they didn’t have to pay for retirement 20 years in advance. Congress forced them down that path. And UPS trucks are now air conditioned, and FedEx is converting. Torturing your employees is never a good plan.
And his name isn’t Quantavius or some other such BS. Time and again when I go to the grocery, post office a restaurant and a name like Jacob, Mary etc is the server, they’re pleasant and well spoken. Likely brought up to have manners and respect for others and in a more normal household.
Licking too many envelopes and stamps.
How long until there are driverless vehicles to deliver mail?
One of the company’s around here that has workers who have to do their jobs in outside or in very hot confined spaces has, in their infinite stupidity, decided to no longer supply hydrating drinks or even water cans, ice and salt tablets. German managers and fools.
Would probably be a marked improvement!
Maybe the driverless deliveries would at least get parcels to correct address! Maybe even bring packages up to the door ... rather than leaving them on the curb.
How about cold water?
It won’t stay cold through a shift. Things warm up fast out there.
Heat strokes makes you delirious and you have no clue you are about to die unless something is done quick.

Same thing almost happened to me. I had a CAT scan for kidney stones, and they discovered an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. My urologist called me and said go the emergency room NOW!
Thankfully, a well regarded vascular surgeon was the father of one of my son’s high school teammates on the football team and we had become close friends. He put in a stent, and I have had no problems since. He literally saved my life.
Apparently, almost all AAAs are detected while they are looking for something else, as was my case. If it’s not detected like that, it’s pretty much a death sentence.
God bless you - am happy you found it.
I think it was because they were supposed to be all electric. Like the A/C is going to work in 117 degree heat!
In Iraq we’d take water bottles and put them in the freezer the night before. They’d last most of the day, drinking the water from each as it melted.
That was in Humvees w/ no a/c. If these men were walking in that heat that’s unforgivable. At 51 there’s no way his body respiration can keep up in that heat.
There was whining about them being electric too. Which was really silly. USPS is a good candidate for electric vehicles. Routes are short, well within electric range, then they go and sit in the parking lot of the post office, easy to recharge. And knowing folks in Tucson with electric cars, AC works just fine.
