"Get woke go broke" isn't just for Hollywood and companies embracing every progressive ideology that comes along. When people get driven off a website that runs on their donations, they take their money with them. Here is the concept, which has been part of human nature: Be careful when playing favorites, and do not go out of the way to piss off those who aren't favored.
Don't like that the Freepathon is behind? Don't drive donors away.
Also, the Freepathon is not running behind. For the past few years, over half the money is taken in in the third month of each quarter. We can all see this happen quarter after quarter, year after year in the tracking bar on the forum homepage.
My day doesnt really on you responding to me. Dont feel obligated at all. But if you want to make contributions to Jim for all the donations you and your sidekicks are running off, be my guest.
There really isn't discussion on here anymore. Just beaking off and preaching to the choir. It is pretty much impossible to talk to anyone because everyone must have the exact same opinion. The only good discussions are the ones where politics aren't involved because let's face it, most of us have no real knowledge of politics outside of what the news tells us, and EVERYONE is twisting their reporting to fit a narrative. The effect is that we are all commenting on other people's opinions and that nothing is really discussed because we don't have true knowledge of the world.
The best, most informative posts I have found are the ones where people discuss what has happened to them in their real lives where there is minimal incentive to play to the biases of the forum.
This is a message the mods cant seem to grasp.

Well, you have been around for less than 10 years, me 24. And while I dont have statistics, I do recall times when the Feepathons finished early and the call for donations wasnt front and center constantly.
Look at this situation with the guy in Minnesota. People are so invested in a world view that they actively twist evidence to point in the opposite direction that it actually points.
I very much agree. This is why I don’t really trust any mainstream media sources anymore and carry a healthy skepticism when it comes to non-traditional sources as well.
I’ve been in situations where I was very close to the actual news as it was happening and saw the media completely distort it into something barely recognizable. And they’ve just gotten worse since then.
It’s one of the reasons I despise blatant propaganda and will call it out when I see it. It has earned me a few enemies here, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
My family loves me, my friends love me and my two kitties love me (at least at feeding time.) That’s what matters. :)

Boundless, this is the best suggestion I've seen regarding subscriptions.
The alternative to ads or subscriptions to address the complaints above would be more moderators, including paid moderators, which would raise the amount of funding needed to run more efficiently.
There has been a generational change since FR started, with the newer folks more likely to ignore the rules page, consider themselves entitled, use snark and post limited-character "tweets" instead of thoughtful discussion. The reason for this is that they have never lived in a free society as the older folks had, and do still remember.
Freedom is something we must mutually provide to one another -- your freedom may stop where mine begins and vice versa. It takes mutual commitment to the ideals of free speech, each to their own opinion, and reasonable debate. These arts of freedom are becoming lost.

I put in USA for country instead of my state. That worked for me.
Seems like that part of the website needs work.
