250th Anniv. Army Parade...Yay or Nay?
6-14-25

Posted on 06/14/2025 9:23:10 AM PDT by nuconvert

I just read a poll that said 51% of Veterans are not in favor.

What are people here feeling?

I know it's expensive, but it's not like it happens every year.

There seem to be a lot of people bothered by the optics. Doesn't bother me. I hope it comes off without a major incident. I'll be watching on tv. :~)

Yay. The 250th is something to celebrate. A score of kin were there day 1.

Why can’t we take one day to celebrate and honor the founding of the United States Army 250 years ago, along with the accomplishments and sacrifices made by all those who served in its units since its inception? I had family that served in the Army in World War II, and Vietnam, so this will be honoring them too.

I don’t think there’s been a parade like this since the New York City Victory Parade on January 12, 1946. I wasn’t born until 1947 so missed out on that one.

Of course we should celebrate it.

However, those attending the “WE HATE AMERICA” rallies around the country today have a major problem with that!

Trooping of the Colour is more to celebrate the official birthday of the British sovereign, not the military. I was in London in early May 2006. It was a Sunday so I walked over to Buckingham Palace and found a parade honoring the anniversary of the Royal Marines. It was very enjoyable to see all the vets marching by. Once the parade had passed, I continued walking, and ended up at the Horse Guards Building. I found the parade I’d seen at the Palace had come around and ended there. It was the first parade I’d seen in person in many years.

"However, those attending the “WE HATE AMERICA” rallies around the country today have a major problem with that!"

There's always been people who live here, that hate this country, and have committed bombings, murder and mayhem. It's definitely escalated on the left because they've been allowed to get away with it for far too long. We have been far too tolerant for way too long. The military should be on the frontline for these riots because they are our national security protection, and these riots are a threat to our country's security and wellbeing. I'm glad President Trump and Sec. of Defense Hegseth have utilized them in L.A., and know they won't hesitate in the future to do the same should the need arise.

Thumbs down... too much like what is done China, Russia, N. Korea, Iran... Get my drift?

No.

I don't "get your drift".

They also breath air.

Going to wrap a plastic bag around your head?

Of course not. Because you are not stupid.

What was the poll? I highly doubt the numbers referenced.

Retired Army. I don’t mind the parades. What I hate is the practices.

I was active duty for 8+ years. I always bristled at the lead up to visits by VIPs, the sprucing up of barracks and other areas. Waste of time and energy.

At Fort Bliss, Armed Forces Day was a big thing, though. It was good for the community.

hello??? Pollsters don’t understand God can use anything, even “antiquated” methods like a parade to help raise up a growing number of Citizens who learn about our country and get involved in some way other than just the basics.

optics

When not referring to the science and engineering of bending light, "optics" is a bullstuff word that low intelligence people use to cover for their inability to think.

Its going to be a history of the Army with vintage vehicles, costumes, etc.
I think its gonna be really good...if it doesn’t get rained out
