Do you have the latest firmware for your router?

The malware has been successfully installed and there is no further need for rebooting. 🤡

Get rid of TP-Link. It’s Chinese trash, and who knows what they embedded in it.

If you live in a condo or busy neighborhood, there could be someone tapping into your bandwidth. Consider changing your router password. Also, I name my router “backup dialer modem” so that it might be ignored by the neighborhood or drive by hacker. 🤪

If it is running, it is running for a reason only known to it and the manufacture.
It would not surprise me if China was using unused computer time from their products as a collaborative super computer.

Unfortunately, routers don’t have an infinite life. (I can’t tell you how many I’ve replaced.)
It sounds like you may be ok for now. For proactive maintenance, you might start looking for a replacement.

make sure your router admin password is not the default.
This is separate from the access password.
have a rd wire connection to the router and most routers use 127.0.0.0 to access the admin menus.

I suspect that 6 months ago you got a bad firmware update that messed everything up.
You probably got a new update recently that fixed everything.
Many routers install firmware automatically.

Is it the same router you’ve been using for nine years? You might need a new one.

I’ve two TP-Link routers, and I reboot them about once every couple of weeks.
These latest two are less than a year old, but it was always the same for the many earlier ones I’ve had...
