Losing one’s spouse always difficult but suicide puts an extra knife in your heart. Do you have children?
No, no kids.
Lots of brothers and sisters though.
How long ago was it? Did he leave a note? Depressed?
Suicide is so difficult- for spouses Siblings , (especially )parents, close friends
Another FReeper (themom) lost her FReeper husband to suicide

14 years ago, no note.
He did suffer from depression. Like I said, FR was there for me.
My daughter-in-law lost 2 husbands before marrying my son. The first was from a work accident. 1 daughter. The second from suicide. 1 son and daughter.
Suicide is a difficult thing to understand. She felt like he took a cowards way out.
LTOS, I too am thankful for FR. My husband passed away in Feb. 2020 after 61 years of marriage. Right when covid hit. My children would not come to see me for fear they might give me covid. So all I had were these wonderful people on FR on this thread.

The Idaho shooter has been found dead, reports say it’s a 20 year old white kid.

Press conference now. Typing a summary up as it progresses for any interested parties in this thread:
Paraphrasing:
individual was located because of a stationary cell phone pinging in the area. They had to quickly remove body because the fire swept through where it was. Guy speaking implying that some evidence, possibly including weapons, were damaged or lost in fire
based on ‘number and type of weapons’ and trajectory of shots, only 1 shooter, now deceased.
helicopters overhead had snipers in them- they’re who the Sheriff was encouraging to take any clear shot
Sheriff believes all civilians off the mountain and accounted for
1 firefighter just out of surgery, ‘stable but fighting for his life’
They’re not addressing background, name, motive, etc. Claiming they don’t have positive identification. No description of suspect at this time.
Officially “we don’t know” if shooter killed self
They do believe that the shooter started the fire for the purpose of ambushing the firefighters.
Unknown currently if shooter made the 911 call, but they don’t think so pending investigation.
Seems to be implying that shooter had multiple, prepared positions, possibly with weapons stashed in them
not releasing info on weapons at this time
they anticipate finding other weapons when they reenter the scene with daylight tomorrow

Fire is ~20 acres now. Did not address containment % no structures lost at this time
