Welp, it looks like Trump is going to reopen Alcatraz.
This dude's not messing around. He wants to send our worst criminals out to "The Rock" in the San Francisco Bay.
Here's Trump:
If you've ever visited Alcatraz you know how epic this is.
I'll give you some details on Alcatraz. But first, just look at the place:
Good luck escaping that! Here's why they originally opened the former military prison to U.S. prisoners (notice the similarities to Trump's reasoning):
The Federal Government had decided to open a maximum-security, minimum-privilege penitentiary to deal with the most incorrigible inmates in Federal prisons, and to show the law-abiding public that the Federal Government was serious about stopping the rampant crime of the 1920s and 1930s.
Prisoners such as Al Capone, "Machine-Gun" Kelly, Arthur "Doc" Barker, Robert Stroud, and Alvin Karpis have served time at Alcatraz.
And it's one of the most inescapable prisons on the planet.
Sure, you can get out, but how are you going to get to shore through those gnarly currents?
More info on the prison:
Now a major historical landmark and tourist destination, Alcatraz was once one of the most heavily fortified military sites on the West Coast before it transformed into a notorious federal penitentiary in 1934.
As a maximum-security prison surrounded by the Pacific's strong, cold currents, Alcatraz had a reputation for being a ‘last resort' facility where the most dangerous and most unruly in other prisons were sent. It was virtually impossible to escape, despite numerous storied attempts.
Trump has ordered the reopening of Alcatraz.
And now we have like 3.5 seconds before a judge overturns this decision.
Staffing would be difficult................
Yes, I’m sure that this is just a troll of the Left, just to watch them go off the rails.................
What would a guard have to make to afford to live there comfortably?
Yes, it would understandably.
But we have staffed such places before. Adak comes to mind.
Sounds more like Ebonics, which is southern plantation speech, such as prolly.
It’s not happening. Alcatraz is a mess. All that salt spray corrodes everything. And it’s a pain to build on. It would take years to get it up to snuff again. He should talk to the DOGE boys, this plan is really inefficient.
Understand - things like Alcatraz, Canada as 51st state and Greenland are schtick. The ignorant and TDSr’s lap it up like milk.
But it is fun to read!
Yep, they sure are a funny bunch of idiots.
And it gets people to start thinking “outside the box”.
I am of the mind that this is just a troll of the Left to watch their heads unravel.
And to put fear into the hearts of the criminals so that they will self deport asap...............
$150k...............
It is someone saying "Well" then quickly closing their mouth in resignation as if there is no more to be said.
I was going to say, the biggest problem is letting the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals having dominion over it.

Greenland is nice.....................
Some Federal judge will side with the indians this time and grant back to them.
The Aleutian Islands..remote and cold

Rebuild Alcatrez? Heck no. It is a significant historical site: a fort, then a military prison, then a maximum security prison with a quite colorful history. It was already a hopelessly outdated and seriously deteriorated site when the Army turned it over to the federal Bureau of Prisons, which is why it was always a notorious hellhole when the worst of the worst were imprisoned there.
There is no shortage of better places to put prisons. Alcatraz should remain a park. And it will.
I am opposed to touching historical parks, period. There is plenty of federal land that could usefully reexamined, but most of it is managed by BLM and, should in theory be open for farming, ranching, timbering, mining, etc. The NPS owns the huge national parks out west, but the historical sites are generally pretty small, with the Civil War battlefields being the largest. Leave ‘em alone.
