At the store today for the first time saw SINGLE SERVING chip bags for sale.
160 calories per bag.
Kennedys influence is already present in the stores.
We have not seen these sizes fire sale individually in stores in 30 to 40 years
Yes the three serving chip bag has been the norm here.
When I was young there was a green six or eight ounce returnable bottle of coke and a 5 cent bag of chips
Small portions.
Yes but here not just one serving.
The important questions - did people buy them, and buy only one?
When I was a kid if my dad took us to the market he’d grab a bag of chips and open it up first thing. We’d all munch on chips as we walked the aisles loaded the cart. He’d pay for the bag of course, but it was always a little surprising. Mom never did that.
Remember Hershey Bars for A Nickle?
.
A Nickle!
We’ve had those here for years. 75 cents to 99 cents a bag, depending on where you buy.
More places are probably carrying them, though.
Empty single serving chip bags have been blowing around Chicago’s west and south sides streets for decades.
“”””Why not save money, buy a larger bag of chips and exercise self control?””””
Unless you live on the beach, then they go stale almost instantly.
They are still very bad for you.
Never heard of it. I don't know what brand it was but probably Taystee or Wonder. I wasn't around in the '50s (and the folks often pity me for that); this is just what I was told.
Single servings are in all the sandwich shops and even the local brewery here sells them.
“We have not seen these sizes for sale individually in stores in 30 to 40 years”
well except for all bars, pubs, diners, hot dog carts, taco carts, BBQ carts, etc. ...
We paid a nickel for a bag of chips back in the 1950’s, and they weren’t the mini-sized bags that come in combo packs, or multi-bagged boxed packs.
Buy a family size bag and only eat it in 1 ounce servings (~15 chips) and by the time you get to the end of the big bag, what’s left is stale.
CHARLIIES!
What you get in dollar stores are packages with smaller amounts in them than the standard packages you see in convenience stores.
That’s for people who can’t stop until the package is empty.
I have buying them by the case from amazon for many years.
The point was they weren’t being sold in such packs.
LOL
