Flight diverted to Colorado Springs after service dog bites passenger on board
KRDO ^ | April 16, 2025 | Emily Coffey

American Airlines has confirmed that a service dog incident caused a flight from Provo, Utah, to Dallas, Texas, to re-route and make an emergency landing in Colorado Springs.

The flight was rerouted around 3 p.m. yesterday.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department confirms that they transported a patient from the airport to a local hospital because of a dog bite, but couldn't tell KRDO13 how serious the injury was, or where the patient is now located.

KRDO13 is pressing local law enforcement and federal law enforcement to see if a criminal investigation is underway. Colorado Springs Police and the F.B.I. both say they are not investigating the incident.

Service dog or no, it’s STUPID to bring a dog into a group of people where you’ll all be cooped up for some hours WITHOUT MUZZLING THE ANIMAL. I don’t care if it’s a Pomeranian, PUT A MUZZLE ON IT.

Entirely too many dog owners think their animal is exempt from the law, and apparently common sense, too.

I have been seeing a lot more “service dogs” around over the past few years. I have a feeling they are coming from places like this:

Fro the linked Amazon ad: "Service dog accessories - include everything you need to use your service dog in a safe way." Apparently not so safe in this instance.

I am distantly acquainted with someone who bought a fake service dog outfit because he wants to be able to take his dog wherever he wants. The law, at least in California, prohibits anyone from asking for details or proof.

No dog masks that I have seen, but a few sweaters & “cones of shame”.

Dogs authorized to travel with owners in the cabin of a plane MUST be muzzled. And any owner found to have bogus paperwork on the dog should be fined $500 for the first offense, and $5,000 for any subsequent offense.

Dogs on planes, for crying out loud. That never used to be a thing, but now it’s pretty common. IMO it’s part of the same pattern of social chaos seen most obviously in the trans craziness. It has something to do with undermining traditional norms.

Relating this to that Guardian article about dogs and their carbon footprint, the left will instinctively hate well trained dogs in their traditional roles, but they support this “emotional support animal” stuff because it’s crazy and makes people uncomfortable. Just like with the the trans craziness and the pronouns etc. etc. it’s about forcing normal people to put up with the craziness of the left’s designated victims.

Costco has a sign up that basically indicates they will only allow legitimate service animals.

The airlines are supposed to be the same way. Problem is, adjudicating the status of the service animal is pretty much left up to the discretion of the person working the ticketing counter. Show up with a bunch of "official-looking" documents and they're likely to shrug and be like, "Looks good to me. They don't pay me enough for this crap."

We watch the TV show Cops occasionally. When dogs are used, the one trembling, on his hind legs leashed, frenzied slobbering and whining & barking is usually a Malligator—or pitbull with turgid ears.
I say to the better half, “Wait and watch. That dog’s gonna bite someone.” And it usually does.
I can’t imagine being cooped up on a plane with one of those bitey Biden dogs brrrrr

Epileptic seizure dogs aren’t readily noticeable. You need to have a state id like a drivers license. Interestingly a littermate of a dog i had was an epileptic seizure service dog. Breed: standard poodle. If that dog was anything like my Rufus, hed have been a natural.. when my mother in law with Alzheimer’s would visit Rufus stayed close to her. Certain breeds are adept at certain tasks

Good dogs but they are definitely high strung.

Another thing is, a muzzle is prudent if you take a big guarding dog on an aircraft in close proximity to others, especially small children.

I don’t mind dogs in public places - the muzzies stay away from them.

That is one reason I like Netflix. I found another favorite of mine, Green Acres, on Pluto TV. I always love it when Mr Kimball comes to visit.

I grew up with Green Acres. I love all those shows from that era. Watching them is a window into a world that was still sane.

Definitely not a service dog but some freaks emotional support animal improperly marked so the freak feels safe.

I’d sue the individual and the airline.

I’m sick of the fake service dog/emotional support BS. I had a T-shirt made up that says in large letters EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HUSBAND DO TO PET on the front pocket it says ESH with a beer can underneath just to piss off the freaks that bring their dogs into restaurants and pubs.

unfortunately the laws gover5ning service dogs are poorly written and all it takes is for someone to declare their dogis a service dog.... Me personally thinks there should be a certification process for the dog. dogs that are certified should be registered and tracked...My guess is that 90 percent of dogs that owners claim are service dogs are not adequately trained.

Why was Joe Biden’s dog on a commercial flight?
