An estimated 6.7 million people in the US are living with Alzheimer’s dementia today, and this number could increase to 13.8 million by 2060, according to the NIH. While there are many lifestyle choices that could lower your risk of dementia — including maintaining a good diet, exercising regularly, socializing and keeping your mind stimulated — recent research suggests there’s one humble beverage that can slash your risk with just a few sips.
A study out of Japan has found that older adults who regularly consume green tea have fewer cerebral white matter lesions, aResearchers asked almost 9,000 adults to fill out a questionnaire about their coffee and tea-drinking habits and used brain scans to analyze their data. key indicator of cognitive decline and dementia. While they did not find any evidence that coffee intake might prevent cognitive decline, their results did lead them to conclude that drinking green tea — especially three or more glasses a day — may help prevent dementia.
The findings align with previous studies that have shown green tea consumption can protect you from cognitive decline. A 2022 meta analysis indicates your risk of dementia decreases by 6% for every cup of green tea you consume

I guess the Japanese have gotten to really like the tasre, for their most favorite dessert in the restaurants there is green tea ice cream. No kidding, it is true, and I saw my customers there order it. Right on the menu of world-class Tpkyo Hotel Okura.

Ironically I have found that to be so. I tried drinking Green Tea and it upset my stomach far more than a good cup of coffee in the morning.
If I hold my coffee to two cups a day and drink both those before 3pm in the afternoon I usually don't have a problem with Gerd.
I also find that black coffee upsets my stomach " bigly"!! Use cream, and not a problem.
Green tea, raw fish and seaweed. Ugh!
I doubt she even knows what Green Tea is. lol
I choose booze.
>>I wash my bourbon down with red. I think I read that the combo helps to prevent dementia, but I can’t recall where I read it.
I’m loving being part of this thread now. I have an unopened bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue at home that I should look at eventually.
That is why it is tasty.
It's actually a lousy study and one which I wouldn't any credence in.
Sorry that you have those problem, but at least you CAN drink coffee, when milk or cream is added, prior to a certain time of day, and can enjoy it.
Hub drinks green matcha tea every day. I guess that counts, it’s very green!
I like black tea. I guess I’m doomed.
Same here. I switched from Diet Mtn Dew to green tea about 12 years ago when a nurse told me that every DMD drinker she new had developed brain cancer.
I found that the green tea worked just find, and was great for the budget, too.
Another correlation study, which is worthless.
“A 2022 meta analysis indicates your risk of dementia decreases by 6% for every cup of green tea you consume...”
With correlations, anything less than doubling or halving means you don’t even have anything worth studying further. Far too many variables involved. These garbage studies should never take place.
Oh dear. I wish I loved the taste of green tea, but I don’t.
You can always add it. I like mine with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla though or Butter Pecan.
I washed my Jamieson’s down with Pino Grigio.
“ Same here. I switched from Diet Mtn Dew to green tea about 12 years ago when a nurse told me that every DMD drinker she knew had developed brain cancer.”
I switched nurses. Problem solved!!! 😆
I’ve been planning to try this, but each time I go to the store I forget what I’m supposed to get. ;^)
