Can we ask a question with many fewer possible answers?
"What Is Something They Told You in School That You Found Out Is the Truth?" :)
“These ‘portables’ we’re using as classrooms are just temporary. We’ll be building some nice, solid, real classrooms -—with windows, and everything!— really soon!” That was in 1965. I visited that school just last year. The ‘portables’ are still there, in use.
That America doesn’t negotiate with terrorists.
BLM, ANTIFA, HAMAS, AL Qaeda, Islam… we don’t NEGOTIATE with them, we SUBSIDIZE terrorists.
That there are only two genders, male and female. Wait, that one actually might be true. Aw, nevermind.
1. Told to me in Law School: That judges were neutral and were professional and only interested in enforcing the law.
2. Told to me in business school: That it was fine to outsource our manufacturing and that people who were displaced could retrain and move into better paying jobs than the ones they lost and would be better off.
3. Told to me in college as a history major: That the War Between The States was “about” slavery.
I was told in 5th grade (mid-70’s) that we’d be underwater in 25 years and everyone would be starving from overpopulation.
That we are a constitutional republic promoting freedom and democracy around the world. What a lie that turned out to be.
I forgot....as a kid in the 1970s I was told about the coming ice age.
mlk was a good person
acid rain would kill us all
the ozone would be completely gone by now
aids would kill us all
FDR was a great President.
Ronald Reagan is a fascist.
Oswald acted alone.
Che and Castro are heroes of the people
The Gulf of Tonkin
Joe McCarthy was the epitome of evil .
Jimmy Carter would be good for the country.
Richard Nixon was a horrible President
white people invented slavery
capitalism is bad
communism is great, it just has never been implemented properly
the world is running out of food and oil and has too many people
diversity is our strength
carbon dioxide is harmless
we are overdue for the next iceage
Lincoln was the greatest president in spite of the fact he suspended habius corpsus and arrested congressman opposed to him.
just a few things I remember from the 80’s
Elementary school in 70s pushing the ice age.
“””I graduated from high school in 1965”””
I will be celebrating my 60 year classmate reunion in June.
I remember that teachers were trying their best to educate us and not indoctrinate us.
Turns out I was right, so there mom.
I’m surprised the #1 answer isn’t “Columbus discovered America”.
That was in Kindergarten...
Left school with a first class pass,
Started work but as second class.
School taught one and one is two.
But right now, that answer just ain’t true.
That fascism is the far-right end of the political scale.
Happy Leif Erikson Day...Hinga Dinga Durgen!
That of course was mean and stopped by the late 70’s.
It was also before the teachers’ unions shifted the focus from education to teacher contracts and Democrat Party alignment. Our curriculum was also focused properly on reading and math and college prep.
I think K-12 really went downhill from the late 70’s until today where they are primarily leftist indoctrination schools, which is clear based on the stagnant performance data for 40+ years.
