When Ric Harris traded in his ageing Mercedes for a Tesla Model 3, he was instantly converted.
“It was a bit like having a spaceship,” says the 51-year-old computer programmer. “It saved me an absolute fortune in fuel; the only thing it’s had done is tyres and topping up the windscreen washer fluid.”
When he acquired the car on a company scheme, Harris did not consider the politics of Tesla’s billionaire owner too closely. “Elon Musk just seemed like a really interesting person. Everything he was doing seemed really positive,” he says.
Four and a half years later, the car’s lease is expiring. And despite it being one of the best vehicles he has ever driven, Harris has no intention of keeping it.
“It’s a brand that, from my point of view, has become toxic. It would be like buying a VW Beetle in 1939 Germany.”

Same thing they did with Trump. They all loved him before they hated him.
And...? I should care about this because?
“It’s a brand that, from my point of view, has become toxic. It would be like buying a VW Beetle in 1939 Germany.”
What an idiot.
Yet he owned a Mercedes before the Tesla. He'll probably buy a Chicom EV next.
“the demographic for Teslas are not MAGA types “
Yeah, the oversized electric golf cart fanbois group are suspiciously leftist.
“‘I’m giving up my Tesla because of Elon Musk’”
hey, ric, i hear used Yugos are dirt cheap! ... a few of ‘em might make a nice replacement for your Tesla ... and if that doesn’t appeal, i highly recommend a used Rivian! ...
hey, ric, i hear used Yugos are dirt cheap!
He can drive with pride!
“It is amazing how these electric vehicles hibernate during the cold winter months in northern states.”
they hibernate in the rocky mountain states too!
Scarcer than hen’s teeth around here most of the winter, you know, the parts of winter that are cold ... mid-summer is another really bad time for EVs here as well ... really, EVs around here are fair-weather vehicles at best ...
“All the Dot Indians in my area drive Teslas.”
some hilarious scenes in the “Silicon Valley” HBO series mocking EVs and “self-driving” cars ...
I’ve been meaning to watch that series.
I really miss my 1963 VW Beetle.
And Musk is a citizen by CHOICE, not by accident of birth. He is doing a service to his adopted country which he loves more than any home-grown liberal.
The Looney Left is now making threats against Tesla cars. Its done to make their car less of a target.
silicon valley is the funniest sitcom since Seinfeld, actually maybe the ONLY funny live action sitcom since then ... all the rest since Seinfeld have been network trash about homos and fart jokes and lots of laugh tracks so you can tell when the “jokes” are supposed to be funny ...
silicon valley is even funnier for anyone who’s actually worked in silicon valley or dealt with those types ... silicon valley is a little bit like Dilbert brought to life ... i watched it when it first came out and am rewatching and it’s STILL funny after all these years, so destined to be a classic ...
btw, another insanely funny series you may never have heard about is “Ugly Americans”:

I assume though you’ve heard of “Futurama”, another very funny animated series ...
He didn’t give up his Tesla... His lease expired so he never owned one anyway.
Oh, just stop with that nonsense, you ridiculous, virtue-signaling drama queen.
Good point. Musk got his money from the leasing company, not this dope.
That is a good point.
Funny you should mention that. There is a company that can now turn(recycle) even electric car batteries into fuel. It takes a super high temperature to do it and other little tricks as well but it is doable.
The ultimate team: Elon Musk and Pres. Trump:
