I've noticed, as of late, the quality of the arguments on Free Republic have declined. This is especially true as regards the H1B argument.
I have no intention of rehashing this argument, nor the points therein. I am speaking only to the tone and tenor of our forum participants.
Musk did us no favors by being so confrontational about this issue, and may have inadvertently sparked the furor. I fault him for that. I see he's trying to cool this down now, and that is to his credit.
However, it is my belief that the Deep State saw an opening and drove a wedge into it, to separate people on different sides of the argument, who normally would be backing Trump.
As I wrote elsewhere:
It's kinda amazing that the Deep State can ring a bell and we salivate like a Pavlovian dog.
You think we'd know better by now.
That point aside, repeatedly, I'm seeing a lot of posters lately are being rather personal as opposed to arguing the merits of their case. That behavior sheds a lot more heat than light.
It’s as if attorneys were to argue in court:
Atty 1: “Where’d you get your law degree, you fat loser? A crackerjack box? Your client is GUILTY and you are a blind FREAK if you can’t see that!”
Atty 2: “Oh, talk about blind! I understand you are a faggot in your personal life, too! Do you molest boys, you creep? YOU should be the one on trial!”
Judge: “Gentlemen, can we return to the facts of th...”
Atty 1: “Oh just shut the eff up, judge, and play with yourself under your robe, like you always do.”
Atty 2: “Yeah, shut up, you twatwaffle! I never liked you, now I know why!”
In short, I hope that people can dial things down a notch and present their cases with a lot less invective.
I myself have been guilty over the years of being nothing less than an online terrorist, but I do now see the errors of that path, especially here, where we are all one big family.
This is an important issue and we need to discuss it. I suggest we at least wait until our President is inaugurated, or, if it is important to discuss now, that we do so with a lot less invective. We are not Democrat Underground.
Are you going to to tell either of them they cannot hire programers and network engineers from India? Are you going to argue that our American educational institutions are not flooding our work force with entitled self-centered ignorant idiots. Social Media tells the truth every day.
Our enemy is illegal immigrants along with the Department of Education and Wokeness championed by Democrat leftists intent on our destruction. The H1B visas are a spit in the bucket compared to all the rest of our problems
But you are pushing the same story as RT and Sputnik news. Why did you just happen to focus on the exact same story and message as the Russian propaganda teams?
My comments are G O N E ! What happened? Can I call abuse on the moderators? How do I do that? Life isn't fair.
“Your focus on that story is a great example of how you repeat and promote Russian propaganda.”
So a story on the US GOVERNMENT paying Social Media Influencers to try to get Americans to support Ukraine is somehow “Russian propaganda”?
Have a pretzel.
For those who missed the post:
BREAKING: According to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the State Department spent $4,840,082 on influencers to promote pro-Ukraine, anti-Russian talking points on social media.

You know nothing about me. I retired from Verizon after 31 years and I am here to tell you that I saw thousands of jobs off-shored all over the world. At one location I was a few interview rooms away from a group of H-1B programmers in the 1990's. I have seen it all and was laid off when I decided to retire.
That said, I know this H1B foolishness is nothing compared to the other priorities we need to focus on.
Trump can severely limit H1Bs with executive action day one without any police, deportation flights, or Congress. It is easily done by executive action.
If Trump doesn't do it day one it is a huge betrayal.
Odd. I saw your comments, and while they may have been mistaken as attacks by moderators, I knew you meant them in pure sarcasm.
The most talented character actor today!
Lots of factions chiming in when they smell blood in the water.
You have the nevertrumpers, the democrats, their media goons, the RDS worshippers. Then you have the big dog ego driven friends of MAGA vying for who gets closest to Trump and gets to be the one to conduct the orchestra in their favor. Everyone wants to be in that position. I hope Trump tells them all to back off.
It is pretty disgusting and the hair trigger temperamental behavior of all parties has soiled the discussion of the issue at this point.
The leftists are lovin’ it though. Works in their favor.
Here they are. Pavarotti, Domingo, and that other guy.
Fun fact: Chumbawumba is a decidedly anarcho-communist group.😊
I don’t like the tone or the tenor of those antennas.
And like cartels - do they charge these people for getting jobs in the USA? This needs to be looked at...

These aren’t American companies that needed international talent to fill critical roles. They’re foreign companies that appear to have been founded to place overseas tech workers into US companies as contractors.
Yep.
This is not an either/or dilemma. We can work to stop illegal immigration and work to prevent H1B abuse. Doing one doesn't mean you have to exclude doing the other.
One is illegal and the other is not. That settles the priority. One is the bottom of the barrel dregs that take, take, take and the other is a semblance of reputable workers. One is an order of magnitude greater against the other, which is a drop in the bucket by comparison.
Laz, you were right. I should have heeded your warning. Good intentions are not a win in this arena.
Elon needed Trump to win because the democrats were out to nationalize SpaceX and to take him down otherwise too. He is vulnerable and his ass was on the line.
