I've noticed, as of late, the quality of the arguments on Free Republic have declined. This is especially true as regards the H1B argument.
I have no intention of rehashing this argument, nor the points therein. I am speaking only to the tone and tenor of our forum participants.
Musk did us no favors by being so confrontational about this issue, and may have inadvertently sparked the furor. I fault him for that. I see he's trying to cool this down now, and that is to his credit.
However, it is my belief that the Deep State saw an opening and drove a wedge into it, to separate people on different sides of the argument, who normally would be backing Trump.
As I wrote elsewhere:

You think we'd know better by now.
That point aside, repeatedly, I'm seeing a lot of posters lately are being rather personal as opposed to arguing the merits of their case. That behavior sheds a lot more heat than light.
It’s as if attorneys were to argue in court:
Atty 1: “Where’d you get your law degree, you fat loser? A crackerjack box? Your client is GUILTY and you are a blind FREAK if you can’t see that!”
Atty 2: “Oh, talk about blind! I understand you are a faggot in your personal life, too! Do you molest boys, you creep? YOU should be the one on trial!”
Judge: “Gentlemen, can we return to the facts of th...”
Atty 1: “Oh just shut the eff up, judge, and play with yourself under your robe, like you always do.”
Atty 2: “Yeah, shut up, you twatwaffle! I never liked you, now I know why!”
In short, I hope that people can dial things down a notch and present their cases with a lot less invective.
I myself have been guilty over the years of being nothing less than an online terrorist, but I do now see the errors of that path, especially here, where we are all one big family.
This is an important issue and we need to discuss it. I suggest we at least wait until our President is inaugurated, or, if it is important to discuss now, that we do so with a lot less invective. We are not Democrat Underground.
I earliest FR “civil war” I remember was the fight over whether Tom McClintock or Arnold Schwarnegger should be the next Governor of California. Back in 2003. That was 21 years ago. I actually think it was worse than the current unpleasantness because it went on for much of the recall campaign. Was there anything comparable before then?

Having like 3 gigs these days, I hardly have time to write anything. Fact is, I haven’t look at one post about this H-1B thing on ANY forum. That’s because I’ve been around long enough to know that it’s merely a distraction.
Perhaps my New Years Resolution should be to commit to posting at least one video per week, since I can run my mouth a lot faster than I can type.
To everyone else out there, allow me to give you a few more meaning full distractions:
* A stupid war that is trying to go nuclear (and what to do about it)
* An out of control border
* An out of control federal budget (or lack thereof)
* Vote fraud (still a thing, folks)
* Oh, and have we resolved the drone issue yet?
Think about everything I posted there, and what you folks have been fussing about in the last couple of weeks.
Of all the New Years Resolutions one can make, here’s one for all you Real Americans out there:
STOP BEING YANKED AROUND BY THE NARRATIVE OF THE DAY. ANY, AND I REPEAT ANY WEDGE YOUR OPPOSITION SEES WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU.
Enough said. Back to my job(s) so I can figure out how and if to pay taxes in 2025

When I trained managers on hiring staff, I tried to emphasize having a minimum bar for the person who was offered a job, not just hiring the best candidate out of a mediocre field because "we need somebody right away". One of the executives I worked for phrased it differently; "Don't settle".
It's an awesome word and it has multiple purposes.

Thank you. We have lost some people over the years who were eloquent. I miss them. I’d like to flinch less frequently when reading comments. If we want to grow MAGA we need to put our best foot forward in public comments.

I agree. I’m not convinced we are in desperate need of a continuing influx of foreign technicians in an abused system to do the work we know Americans have done before and can continue do.
The Chinese guy got fired as soon as the phone bill came in, he was viewing Japanese porn at work, using dial up Japanese phone numbers!
Since there were no hard feelings (I'd done everything semiconductor process related and the company moved to different implementations that were not a good fit), I'd occasionally drop in to say 'Hi'. The Indian guy seemed to be doing well, the Vietnamese guy would vanish within moments of my showing up...

Now almost 35 years later this is suddenly an issue? The barn door that needs to be shut is the illegals at the borders and flown to so called Sanctuary cities and states. Your H-1B visas is a red herring to move the goal posts away from illegal immigration. I smell a rat.

A solid fix to the H1Bbodyshop abuse would be that H1Bs must work directly for the sponsoring employer and cannot be a consultant to another company in any way, shape or form.
Vivek’s recent behavior is a perfect example of why those for whom foreign spice was involved in at least some way in their birth should never hold the office of POTUS.
