I've noticed, as of late, the quality of the arguments on Free Republic have declined. This is especially true as regards the H1B argument.
I have no intention of rehashing this argument, nor the points therein. I am speaking only to the tone and tenor of our forum participants.
Musk did us no favors by being so confrontational about this issue, and may have inadvertently sparked the furor. I fault him for that. I see he's trying to cool this down now, and that is to his credit.
However, it is my belief that the Deep State saw an opening and drove a wedge into it, to separate people on different sides of the argument, who normally would be backing Trump.
As I wrote elsewhere:
It's kinda amazing that the Deep State can ring a bell and we salivate like a Pavlovian dog.
You think we'd know better by now.
That point aside, repeatedly, I'm seeing a lot of posters lately are being rather personal as opposed to arguing the merits of their case. That behavior sheds a lot more heat than light.
It’s as if attorneys were to argue in court:
Atty 1: “Where’d you get your law degree, you fat loser? A crackerjack box? Your client is GUILTY and you are a blind FREAK if you can’t see that!”
Atty 2: “Oh, talk about blind! I understand you are a faggot in your personal life, too! Do you molest boys, you creep? YOU should be the one on trial!”
Judge: “Gentlemen, can we return to the facts of th...”
Atty 1: “Oh just shut the eff up, judge, and play with yourself under your robe, like you always do.”
Atty 2: “Yeah, shut up, you twatwaffle! I never liked you, now I know why!”
In short, I hope that people can dial things down a notch and present their cases with a lot less invective.
I myself have been guilty over the years of being nothing less than an online terrorist, but I do now see the errors of that path, especially here, where we are all one big family.
This is an important issue and we need to discuss it. I suggest we at least wait until our President is inaugurated, or, if it is important to discuss now, that we do so with a lot less invective. We are not Democrat Underground.
You have such hurt feelings when people disagree with that you want them arrested? How pathetic.
“The Deep State did not start this H-1B controversy. Musk did. As was noted, he’s trying to walk it back”
Good point. And he did not say “You know, I am thinking an increase in H1Bs would be useful”. He straight out said we need to increase H1B, that “if we did not agree we should F our own face, and he would go to war against us like we have never seen”.
The blowback was predictable. The deep state didn’t start it. The Coolie Caucus did when they Tech Bros swarmed around Trump and tried to seduce him into expanding their pet cut outs.
You are just another member of the old guard that has never faced the corporate discrimination at a woke corporation that imports indentured servants and throws Americans out of work.
People change.
You shouldn’t be pointing any fingers either, just for the record.
“You have such hurt feelings when people disagree with that you want them arrested? How pathetic.”
Russian Troll.
Moral Fraud.
I have nothing to say to someone with a moral compass that serves a tyrant. Go serve Russia directly. Serf.
That's my response when some folks complain about Sean Hannity being too repetitive. Repetition is the mother of memory! Hear it often enough and you're likely to remember, and think about it.
“Because there is little more satisfying than distorting the facts to support your own predetermined conclusions.”
You mean like posting, time after time, that Russia is out of missile - just to find out this week that it’s the US nearly out of missiles (ATACMs)? Or explaining why the war was never a “Russian land grab” when the clowns in the West thought they could give Russia a few acres of Donbass and end the war? Or letting people know that it was Victoria Nuland who disclosed the US Biolabs in Ukraine, and that it was NOT a “Conspiracy Theory” as others here (the regulars) have claimed?
So who’s doing the distorting again?
Do you want some cheese with that whine?
“Do you think that the Founding Fathers won the Revolutionary War by having hugfests with the British?”
Now you create a strawman argument taking the matter out of context, from public behaviors of the founders between each other as political U.S. adversaries, to, inappropriately U.S-British relations. And in THAT latter context, for tone, you only have to read the Declaration of Independence where even in the many claims against the British King things were stated as matter of fact and wihout rancor.
The issue was not about “being quiet or not” as you imply with your quote from Adams; that is another false argument and not what the main issue is about.
H-1B may seem trivial to some but it will be a game changer for the US working class.
Moral Fraud.

The Declaration of Independence was a political document written by many people meant for consumption worldwide, it was not a political forum and it was not individual political speech. Only a low intellect would conflate the two.
You are a 'safe space' Freeper. Do you need some validation, a hug and some hot cocoa to soothe your distress?
that last was directed towards laz .
Over a 30 year IT career I have faced job discrimination, lost opportunities and depressed wages. This is personal to me and millions of other Americans in the IT field and we will not be shouted down and be told to shut up by anyone.
I dare you to talk to anyone you know working in an IT field and then get back to me.
