I've noticed, as of late, the quality of the arguments on Free Republic have declined. This is especially true as regards the H1B argument.
I have no intention of rehashing this argument, nor the points therein. I am speaking only to the tone and tenor of our forum participants.
Musk did us no favors by being so confrontational about this issue, and may have inadvertently sparked the furor. I fault him for that. I see he's trying to cool this down now, and that is to his credit.
However, it is my belief that the Deep State saw an opening and drove a wedge into it, to separate people on different sides of the argument, who normally would be backing Trump.
As I wrote elsewhere:
It's kinda amazing that the Deep State can ring a bell and we salivate like a Pavlovian dog.
You think we'd know better by now.
That point aside, repeatedly, I'm seeing a lot of posters lately are being rather personal as opposed to arguing the merits of their case. That behavior sheds a lot more heat than light.
It’s as if attorneys were to argue in court:
Atty 1: “Where’d you get your law degree, you fat loser? A crackerjack box? Your client is GUILTY and you are a blind FREAK if you can’t see that!”
Atty 2: “Oh, talk about blind! I understand you are a faggot in your personal life, too! Do you molest boys, you creep? YOU should be the one on trial!”
Judge: “Gentlemen, can we return to the facts of th...”
Atty 1: “Oh just shut the eff up, judge, and play with yourself under your robe, like you always do.”
Atty 2: “Yeah, shut up, you twatwaffle! I never liked you, now I know why!”
In short, I hope that people can dial things down a notch and present their cases with a lot less invective.
I myself have been guilty over the years of being nothing less than an online terrorist, but I do now see the errors of that path, especially here, where we are all one big family.
This is an important issue and we need to discuss it. I suggest we at least wait until our President is inaugurated, or, if it is important to discuss now, that we do so with a lot less invective. We are not Democrat Underground.

Americans built the computer and software revolution from scratch which is extremely difficult. We built something magnificent out of nothing and we did it all before there any H1B visa imports stealing our jobs. Now the reptiles that rule us are saying we Americans are too stupid to maintain our own creations.
They can go to hell.
There may be some some tenors but there are also some altos and sopranos and bass.

Yes, it's suddenly an issue because Musk and Ramaswamy suddenly made it an issue.
I never saw that. Thank you. I can’t stop chuckling!
That's a funny post from a guy who actively attacks any pro-Ukraine poster, and frequently somehow seems to adopt the same opinion and talking points as Russian government propagandists.
You couldn't even post on this thread, which has nothing to do with Ukraine, without attacking the members of Free Republic who are in favor of helping Ukraine defeat Russia's invasion.
There are plenty of people who are conservatives who don't like the idea of Russia invading its neighbors, or Russian soldiers killing civilians, or Russia's threats and aggression against NATO states.
Musk is only trying to cool it down to keep doing it. Screw Musk!
You can see where I’m going with this. A casual perusal of the data shows that this isn’t a program for the top 0.1% of talent, as it’s been described. This is simply a way to recruit hundreds of thousands of relatively lower-wage IT and financial services professionals. “
Thanks for the info; I think most assume that the H1B engineers, etc., are top notch. (The rest are relegated to call centers):
“Hahloo. My neem is Kayveen. May I speak to Charless?”
Even though Vivek was born here, his parents were not. He still has a foreign mindset as a result. He is not an American at heart and doesn’t give two hoots about AMERICAN exceptionalism because he doesn’t understand it.
It’s all about the💲💲💲💲💲💲💲
just my $0.02 - which isn’t enough to cover my tax bill.
Maybe you should open a sandwich shop?
It’s fine for your parents not to have been born here so long as they were both U.S. citizens at the time of your birth.
Of PDJT’s children, only Tiffany is a constitutionally-eligible-to-POTUS natural Born citizen.
Their tactics are certainly successful on this site.....
You can see more of what Franchitti claims as well as emails
https://casetext.com/case/franchitti-v-cognizant-tech-sols-corp-10
This business practice of Cognizant clearly obliged Franchitti to participate in its implementation. Another email clarifies the scheme:
As discussed, it would be beneficial for you (JC, Phil) to address the team to explain the strategy regarding visareadiness for potential U.S. opportunities. The message
to the team has been that the idea is to get associates visa-ready, so if a suitable opportunity arises in the U.S. we can move quickly.
(ECF No. 114 ¶41)(emphasis added).
In order to pursue this scheme, Cognizant drafted and submitted to the government “false jobs and job duties” in an “invitation letter.” In such a letter, a manager was “to sign invitation letters identifying jobs that do not exist, per the proactive process Cognizant announced in 2011.” (ECF No. 114 ¶45). In one such application, Franchitti acknowledges that he falsely attested:
As Assistant VP-Consulting, I have firsthand knowledge of the Cognizant project which Mr. Atmakur will be assigned to in the U.S. and attest that only an individual who has acquired advanced specialized knowledge through a combination of Cognizant overseas on-the-job and Cognizant Academy classroom training of Cognizant’s proprietary methodologies [and] processes, Cognizant’s GTO, and Cognizant’s vertical and horizontal concepts, would be able to perform the job duties for this project.
(ECF No. 114 ¶47).
According to Franchetti, this was an ongoing business practice undertaken for years to have visas available to include Indian citizens for travel purposes (B-1 visa) when most likely H-1B visas were necessary to perform the work assigned. (ECF No. 114 ¶¶52-57). As a result, the cost of visa application fees and labor costs incurred by Cognizant plummeted. (ECF No. 114 ¶¶58-66).
part of the tweet was quoting a movie but it doesnt matter that is a quote. he chose to use it
They will pull threads if you report abuse on them. I think there are just too many topics to be policed these days, so it falls to each of use to alert them to the more egregious infractions.

The point is that even with the “founding fathers” slanderous personal tones did nothing to change or futher the actual policy/position arguments.
Yes, it's suddenly an issue because Musk and Ramaswamy suddenly made it an issue.
So a person states an opinion and suddenly people are on a hair trigger? Not very smart.
