A US Navy leader was demoted for installing an illegal WiFi network on a warship, a new report says.

Grisel Marrero installed a Starlink network on the USS Manchester and named it "STINKY."

She lied to and misled her commanding officer at least three times when questioned about the network, per the report.

A senior US Navy enlisted leader who was demoted after she was caught running illegal WiFi on a warship used a leadership association's debit card to pay for its monthly bills and named it "STINKY," according to a new report.

Grisel Marrero, who was the command senior chief of the USS Manchester, installed and operated the unauthorized network during a deployment in 2023, lying to her commanders and falsifying records to cover up its presence, according to a Navy charge sheet seen by Business Insider.

The Story Of Sailors Secretly Installing Starlink On Their Littoral Combat Ship Is Truly Bonkers
The fact that an LCS deployed with a Starlink system operating onboard and the captain had no clue about it is a very disturbing revelation.

Conclusion to story above

“By turning their quarters into de facto internet cafes, Marrero and other chiefs aboard the Manchester ignored those concerns entirely. The actual damage of their actions is unclear. We’ve reached out to the Navy to find out more.

“Regardless, that a ship’s leaders - especially one trained in information security and digital management - would set up a system that could put their vessel and crewmates at risk is almost beyond belief. “

MANY of them - Naval NCO’s and officers too - are morbidly obese.

Depends on their MOS and command.

While working civil service at NSA I had several patients who were active duty officers who weighed over 300 pounds. Intel guys/gals whose jobs were defined as “mission critical” and there were no other people in the pipeline to replace them so they got weight waivers from command.

“A great reckoning is inevitable.”

And that’s what the left fears most. With Trump’s latest plans made public they know it will happen if he gets into power again.

Since America has zero chance of defeating a world-class power, it’s probably a good time for US to project peace rather than belligerence.

“She lied to and misled her commanding officer at least three times when questioned about the network, per the report.”

***************

Lying to a superior officer and receiving minimal punishment. This serious breach sends a terrible message about leadership, personal accountability and the integrity of the chain of command. This is a total breakdown.

Amazing, as with everything in America, once we started lowering the standards for the first affirmative action people, the standards kept being lowered, and then more, snowballing until very few standards exist all all anymore, anywhere, and then those people who are in reach leadership and high numbers and continue taking the concept of standards as personally threatening and hostile to them and people like them.

Indeed it is and it raises questions about what else is going on that ship that the captain has no knowledge of because of insubordination or lack or respect for the chain of command.

It doesn’t look like the Navy views this as a serious problem.

i’ve never in my life seen anyone in an official navy photo with a double chin.

and yes, she should be in prison.

at a minimum, she was giving away the position of the ship. worst case, she might’ve been leaking classified intel.

meanwhile... am i to believe they couldn’t detect, track, and disable that device within a few minutes of it going live??

i’m sure that’s a tidbit of info our enemies would like to know.
