Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A mystery alligator was found wandering on a road in North Carolina's Rowan County and was relocated to a zoo.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office said on social media that a deputy traveling on Long Ferry Road about 5 a.m. Sunday spotted an alligator in the road and called the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission for assistance.
The alligator was captured safely and taken to a zoo in the eastern part of the state for safekeeping.
The sheriff's office said alligators are not normally found in Rowan County, which is located north of Charlotte in the western part of the state.
"At this time it is not known where the gator came from," the post said.

A mystery alligator was found wandering on a road in North Carolina's Rowan County Guess gators don’t cotten to asking directions.
Then, again, “not all who wander are lost.”

Must have hitchhiked...
If it had been traveling on feet, it would have been 8-feet long by the time it got spotted by the deputy...

I once found a mystery chicken in the woods. Took her home and named her “Mystery.”

Texas Game chased a gator from Texas to Florida. It was 11 feet long in Texas. Every spotting showed his growth. When finally captured in FL he was a full 23 feet!
At least that was what the people posting the photos said.

Huh?

That game came out in 1965 and I have always seen it as a real “cusp” artifact for Baby Boomers. It has a sort of Eisenhower Era feel of nicely dressed young people starting out their lives in a sophisticated social scene for young people. But 1965? Hello 1967! Summer of Love! We’re all hippies here! The “Mystery Date” game seemed to come out at the most awkward possible time in terms of social evolution. It’s not a Mickey Mouse Club crowd anymore — we’re all headed towards Woodstock.

There were heavy summer rains, and the gator went with the flow and ended up inland. They should not have put it in a zoo. They should have released it onboard Lejeune; we have lots of them. They don't bother anyone. Just don't walk your dog along the riverbank. If you do, make sure you are carrying. An elderly couple lost their dog in town along a riverbank. Everyone in the area knew a fair-sized gator was in that location; there were warning signs. What were they thinking?

They can navigate any waterway, and walk a fair distance. They’re moving into Tennessee.
