“Meanwhile, your neighbor who drinks a bottle of whiskey, eats bacon and smokes a pack of cigarette daily lives to be 90.”
And another guy who did the same thing died at 40. There ain’t no rules. It’s a crapshoot for all of us.
My old man was in superb health in his early seventies. Walked three miles a day and did a couple hours of weights. Then lung cancer came and destroyed him.
RIP Richard Simmons.
76 is the new 96.
That was my father in-law........
Meh....Bon Voyage Richard. What your legacy may be I have no clue.
The actor who played Jackie Robinson and Black Panther movies died in his 40s. He appeared to be healthy before dying of cancer.
I think he died gorging on !
That’s right.
Well aren't you the sweetheart.
Sounds like Winston Churchill. And he lived to be 90.
Rest In Peace, Richard.
76, apparently not that fit.
I remember reading about a study of centegenarians, and they found that all the stuff they tell you to do was not the common denominator. The common denominator was the ability to adapt and stay happy.
I also remember reading recently a headline that people who take lots of vitamins are more likely to die earlier. I’m wondering how much that has to do with the chalky substance they make capsules out of. It’s interesting though.
Include Dr Ruth Westheimer on that list.
She was 96.
He was no jack Lalane.
He went underground for years. He just made a few brief appearances in the last year or so.
I saw a video of Howard Stern on his radio show where he had Simmons on as a guest, Stern was a complete jerk to him, and you could tell Simmons feelings were hurt and he walked out of the interview. The guy was a gentle soul. R.I.P.
Rest in peace.
He was a guest on Howard Stern’s radio show, multiple times. The episodes are on Youtube. Very entertaining IMO. Pauly Shore starred in an unauthorized biographical film recently, and Richard was NOT happy about it. RIP.
A flaming exercise guru will be his legacy. Apart from the occasional appearance I saw of him he didn’t cross my radar much. Being male I preferred to watch the 20 minute workout myself.
