Biden ‘dug in’ as Dem calls to drop out rise
The Hill ^ | 7/07/24 | Amie Parnes

When President Biden sat down on Friday with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos for the high-stakes interview on the heels of his disastrous debate performance, he was adamant about one thing in particular: He’s not going anywhere.

“If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,’ I’d get out of the race,” Biden said. “The Lord Almighty’s not coming down.”

Behind the scenes, Biden has remained steadfast despite the growing number of Democrats calling for him to stand down, telling key allies that he’s the best candidate to not only beat former President Trump but to save democracy. The proof, he says, is in the last three and a half years. And his 2020 campaign. Not to mention Trump’s surprise defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2016. Biden has told allies for years that he could have won that race.

And while his critics have said he’s leaving a lot to chance, Biden has maintained the opposite position: Handing the baton to another Democrat is a risky proposition.

“He believes in his core that he understands the electorate and where Americans are and that he’s the one to do this, to win,” said one key Biden ally who has spoken to advisers in the president’s small inner circle. “He’s dug in.”

People in Biden’s circle “understand the severity of the moment they’re in but they also believe it will pass, just as other moments have come and gone,” said one former administration official.

Biden allies concede the situation could become untenable, especially as Congress returns to Washington this week. On Sunday, at least four senior House Democrats said privately on a call that Biden should drop out of the race.

I doesn’t look like that “6 ways till Sunday” rule holds when you are president of the united states, your wife dresses like a first come first serve whore for her SS detail and your son is a crackhead.

Deep state is in deep sht.

Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Clapper, Page, Rice, Brennen, Hayden feeling unsafe. Are they even invited to the calls anymore?

Yes, Bidens walk away with cash and donations. Donor payoffs.

I think maybe Hillary should give Joe a friendly call.

Invite Joe to a nice picnic at Fort Marcy Park...

I’ve noticed that all of the Democrats calling on Biden to step aside are doing so because staying in “will hurt the party” and will “keep them from defeating Trump.” None of them are expressing concern that a cognitively impaired president is a threat to national security, and is putting the country at risk. It’s all about the party, it’s all about holding onto power.

Yes you can give to a party or PAC. But only Kamala is allowed to use the hundred million or so given to the campaign, unless Joe stays in.

This always happens in the final days. They protest the loudest just before dropping out.

Under the 25th amendment the process is led by the Vice President—who couldn’t organize a ten year old’s birthday party.

“...for that 2nd debate,,,”

If Biden stays in, there won’t be a second debate. Team Biden will make up some crazy excuse, blame the whole thing on Trump ... and the mainstream media will do their darnedest to sell that narrative. Yes, I fully expect that the media negativity he’s receiving now will evaporate if it becomes set in stone that Biden can’t/won’t be squeezed out.

Why is Joe STILL refusing to bow out amidst all the pressure from his own party?
ANSWER: Because the FRAUDULENT BALLOTS with his name check-marked HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRINTED and boxed up.

That is an interesting thought. A second time gets hard to hide.

The candidate starts from ground zero with fundraising...That is unless the Democrats blatantly violate the law.

It's my understanding that Joe (as the candidate*) could donate the funds to other campaigns, I believe with limits, to PACs, I think without limits, the the DNC, or keep it for future runs. What happens when he dies, I don't know.

*I've also read that if Joe drops out, the funds would (could?) continue in the Biden/Harris campaign fund since that's who the donations were made to. Now without Biden. I believe Joe also said if he couldn't run the funds would go to Kamala though I wouldn't assume he knows what he's talking about.

Without regards to what I think of her, because it doesn’t matter, Kamala Harris should be the nominee. She’s the VP and should be POTUS under the 25th.

I agree. Joe is unfit to stand trial and presumably unfit to run per many Democrats. If that's true, he's unfit to serve, certainly not till January. Give him a week or so to pardon his kids, family and associates and pick out White House souvenirs'. All the documents he wants since he's de facto immune for prosecution on that issue. But he should resign the Presidency, not the nomination, for the good of America.

Harris has time to declare DC residency though I doubt that’s the VP she wants.

Trump knows he has gold in Biden as his opponent. Biden is the only candidate that can serve up the noncognitive issue on a platter. Unlike others in the Republican party, he knows to shut up about the issue until after the convention when Biden is locked in and it would be difficult to withdraw. There is a time and place for everything and the time to blast Biden on the non cognitive issue is in late September and October, not now
