When President Biden sat down on Friday with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos for the high-stakes interview on the heels of his disastrous debate performance, he was adamant about one thing in particular: He’s not going anywhere.
“If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,’ I’d get out of the race,” Biden said. “The Lord Almighty’s not coming down.”
Behind the scenes, Biden has remained steadfast despite the growing number of Democrats calling for him to stand down, telling key allies that he’s the best candidate to not only beat former President Trump but to save democracy. The proof, he says, is in the last three and a half years. And his 2020 campaign. Not to mention Trump’s surprise defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2016. Biden has told allies for years that he could have won that race.
And while his critics have said he’s leaving a lot to chance, Biden has maintained the opposite position: Handing the baton to another Democrat is a risky proposition.
“He believes in his core that he understands the electorate and where Americans are and that he’s the one to do this, to win,” said one key Biden ally who has spoken to advisers in the president’s small inner circle. “He’s dug in.”
People in Biden’s circle “understand the severity of the moment they’re in but they also believe it will pass, just as other moments have come and gone,” said one former administration official.
Biden allies concede the situation could become untenable, especially as Congress returns to Washington this week. On Sunday, at least four senior House Democrats said privately on a call that Biden should drop out of the race.

Don’t listen to them, Joe. Listen to Hunter Hang in there. We need you to get us a Republican Congress for Trump
No. Not beyond campaign donation limits.
The money can be returned, used to pay remaining debts and payroll, or kept for a future campaign.
Biden could, I think, even declare a run as an independent and keep the money to finance that campaign.
If Biden drops out the only one who could access the donations is Hairass
Believe me, I happily agree with all of your points.
How sweet it is, that the DemonRats are faced with only difficult choices! In utter panic choosing between Scylla and Charybdis is where they DESERVE to spend ALL their days for the evil they delight in doing.
And watching them, I haven’t had so much political fun in quite some time!
Let’s Go Brandon!!!
It’s a tantrum by Democrats.
Of all people, Michael Moore is now accusing Jill and Hunter of Elder abuse.
They freaked at the Polls, and used their chance to get Trump after Lawfare failed and inflation dropped Joe in the polls - by getting another candidate.
It’s all about the Polls.
Joe has had the fantasy life of his own words, own world, and his own media assistants since 2019. They ran interference as Joe wrecked the Economy.
Just think, Joe actually claimed he lied when he told Special Counsel prosecutors that he didn’t know when Beau died, because he thought it was “none of their damn business.” That would’ve brought a slew of charges if Trump had tried that.
Joe lives in a fantasy world.
>> Joe lives in a fantasy world.
That may be, but the pain the bastard is inflicting on US is quite real.
I want to see the entire DemonRat party ground into a fine powder and blown away by the wind.
I am enjoying watching these baby steps towards that goal.
Why are they making such a big deal over his childhood stutter?
Psst ...the GOP has aided and abetted Biden all the way. This has been a bipartisan love fest for the last three and a half years.
Because of this, or because of the pro-Hamas aholes who’ve sworn to show up?
>> This has been a bipartisan love fest for the last three and a half years.
Hyperbole
.
Yeah, the GOP supported the Biden agenda and they love them some Joe.
Trillions flowed.
Notice how they ran out all the Investigations of Biden.
>> Because of this [”Biden affair”], or because of the pro-Hamas aholes who’ve sworn to show up?
All of the above! The ‘Rats are swimming in a fetid cesspool of problems of their own making. Keep your popcorn dry. ;-)
ANSWER: Because the FRAUDULENT BALLOTS with his name check-marked HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRINTED and boxed up.
I think that the fundamental problem for the Dems here is that the demented old coot actually believes his own bulls—t. He believes that a drunk driver killed his first wife. He believes that he was raised in a black church, got his start at an HBCU and was a civil rights activist in the ‘60s. He believes that he drove an big rig and holds the record for miles traveled on Amtrak. He believes that Beau Biden died in Iraq, and that Donald Trump spits on Beau’s grave. He believes that Trump called neo-Nazis “very fine people.” AND he believes that he would have beaten Trump in 2016, and he believes that he’s uniquely positioned as the savior of the Constitution and American democracy’s greatest defender. The man has a messiah complex and an ego the size of Jupiter. If Doctor Jill and Hunter confirm him in his delusions, why would he listen to anyone else?
Jill ain’t a spring chicken either. Why so much money, she’ll never live long enough to spend it.
Dr. Jill better be hiring a food tester for ole Joe. For Democrats the ends justify the means. They threw out God and are without a moral guard rail.
Thanks
What is the deal with the Lieberries?
I’ll just say...a lot of fake drama here. In the end, it’s either Joe with Gov Newsom as VP choice, or Harris running for President, with some fill-in for VP. That’s the only way the campaign chest of money stays intact.
They waited too long to swap out...should have been engaged to dump Joe for dementia back in the summer of 2023, and dump Joe....letting Harris step in.
Trump saw all of this approaching and has played it correctly....let Joe or Kam talk as much as they want. Neither could sell used cars with their campaign-chatter. From the past 70-odd years...it is presently the weakest ticket ever (even Hillary had a better ticket).
