False banana: Is Ethiopia's enset 'wondercrop' for climate change?

Scientists say the plant enset, an Ethiopian staple, could be a new superfood and a lifesaver in the face of climate change.

The banana-like crop has the potential to feed more than 100 million people in a warming world, according to a new study.

The plant is almost unknown outside of Ethiopia, where it is used to make porridge and bread.

Ok so Africa is going to do what to take Resources from North America?

And what’s the reason Africa doesn’t grow and produce what it wants and needs?

You seem to think that because Europe has developed a certain standard of living, Africa has a right or ability to come and take it.

A lot of Africans are under 40. Ok and what military capability do they have to attack Europe, North America or Asia?

Which African country has a sizeable fleet, air force, missile forces, etc?

And comparing China with Africa is not a good analogy. Africa has nowhere near the capability of China.

As for China, they may be going after the world’s resources. We know that. But so is India, a foe of China.

Back to Africa, in no way is Western Civilization at fault for Africa being backward.

Africa is doing a fine job of invading Europe right now and without a Navy that you speak of. They also are coming via Latin America by the thousands to the USA. You completely missed the point. If the world wants immigration to slow or halt from the third world then the third world needs to be industrialized and made comparable to the first world standards of living and that takes energy consumption. There simply is not enough resources to burn on a use it once basis to bring 6 billion humans up to the standards of living they demand. The Chinese have a large Navy and if it comes down to it would gladly pack thousands if not millions of fighting age African males on ship’s to be dropped off in North America during a global conflict. They also have 200+ times the ship building capacity as the USA they could like we did and cannot now during wwii produce ship’s faster than we could sink them. They are the USA and we are the Germans in WW3 they have the industrial powerhouse this go round. They also have nukes and a population large enough to take a full strike and survive as a race and culture even losing half a billion to nuclear fire balls there would still be 600+ million left. If they use their city busters they could kill 200 million of us and the USA would cease to be a viable entity or culture forever. They also have civil bunkers and like the Russians provide nuclear shelters for their citizens they rightfully believe they can win a nuclear war because they have the demographics to win just that. So what’s better for our species to fight a global war likely thermonuclear for resources and burn them all to the sky once or use them to make energy sources that give a EROI in the hundreds or thousands over their lifespan. Use our blessings to make technology that can feed billions via synthetic biology using nuclear power , geothermal , solar as the electron sources. Those forms of power will never run out or be in short supply. With fast spectrum nuclear reactors millions of years worth of uranium. Geothermal has at least a million times as much energy flowing every year from the mantle to the crust than humans could ever use. The Sun showers the planet with over a million times what humans use and will do so for a billion more years. The problem is humans have burnt 400+ million years of fossil sunshine in just under two centuries under no logic or mathematical equation is that sustainable it is by very definition unsustainable and it’s going to get billions killed via catastrophic resource collapse.
