FIVE Guys has abruptly shuttered one of its restaurants but locals say they are not surprised.
The fast-food restaurant in New Milford, Connecticut, shut its doors for good on June 9.
A sign taped to the door of the restaurant over the weekend stated that the business "is permanently closed."
However, officials at Five Guys allegedly told CT Insider that there was no closure news regarding the New Milford location.
Meanwhile, the sign on the door instructed diners to visit another nearby location.
"Sorry for the inconvenience," it read as it directed customers to the Five Guys in Brookfield, which is nine miles away.
The chain has over a dozen locations across the state that customers can still visit.
However, it is not known why the New Milford site has closed its doors, though locals say it is likely due to money.
On a local Facebook group, one resident asked if the closure was true.
Other Facebook users confirmed the closure and reacted to the news in the comments with many saying the same thing about its prices.
"Not such a surprise. Hardly anyone ever in there," one said.
"We love the food, but too pricey for a regular visit. I guess a lot of people felt that way."
"They would have done better with realistic prices," another comment read.
"You can have a sit-down dinner for the price of their fast food," a third said.
"I'm not entirely surprised," one local commented as she recalled being there alone with her family on Saturday night as locals abandoned the diner.
It’s been years since I was in Texas so it must be from the place in chicago that took over has F-ed them up. 🙁
That’s very disappointing...
Thanks for the info !!! I will definitely keep My eyes open for them.
I like In-N-Out because I consider it a bit better than the other fast food place at a similar price point. At the same time, I’m not one of those fans who’ll sit in the drive-thru for 45 minutes for their food. If the drive-thru line is too long and/or it’s too crowded inside, then I don’t really consider it “fast” food and will go elsewhere. Conversely, I know a few people who absolutely hate In-N-Out, and, to a person, their gripe is the same: they hate the fries. Personally, I really like their fresh-cut fries, but I can appreciate the fact that they’re a significantly different sort of fry than the standard frozen fries of McDonald’s, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., Jack in the Box, etc. And some folks just prefer the latter.
Ive had good experiences with all of the 5 guys diners that Ive been too. good fresh fries- no grease, and tasty burgers.
Same experience with Whataburger.
You must have eaten at a counterfeit 5 guys location.
Now theres a local place called hometown hamburgers. Very greasy burgers and so-so fries just like you describe.
2 different locations in the Charlotte area and 1 in Detroit.
5 Guys burgers used to be better - suspect they have reduced the quality of the meat to cut costs. Used to be very good, now just OK, but always pricey. Our local 5 Guys makes the best fries in the world, and 1 regular order is plenty for 2 people. I often get a hot dog instead of the burger, but go mainly for the fries.
