In the past couple of years I have noticed there is a complete lake of regard for other posters on this site. Not only that but swearing seems to be tolerated. In the past day I have been called gay, a lair, that I am talking out of my *** and I am full of ****. Do we even have to go into the fighting on any thread about Ukraine or Russia. Even hard facts from multiple sources no longer seem to matter. Instead it is whoever can come up with the snarkiest reply.
Instead of lair, I prefer prestidigitator.

Thats true, using well paid for propaganda from others as proof is much more educational.
Some governments actually send people to special schools so those targeted individuals can be thoroughly educated citizens.

The Russians pay OK, but the Chinese, they go into 6 digits for the best troll/influencer positions ( pay from their annual multi-billion dollar propaganda budget ). ( data from various sources around the web and on FR ).
I forget how people sign up to become white monkeys, or I’d pass it along. Perhaps just watch the millions of YT vids by paid influencers and use that as a starting point until you are contacted - and you will be.
If people ignored the real pot stirrers, that would help. It’s no fun posting you yourself and not getting a reply.
For trolls, the reply and knowing they got someone is its own reward and just eggs them on for more, like the one I mentioned who was bragging about how he would egg on people and count how many replies he could get before they quit. What phenomenal immaturity.

The site started going downhill when it has a little bit of media attention. Rathergate I believe it was a member here broke the story.
Not sure if it is infiltration or just after 20 years a lot of FReepers have passed on and moved on.
Sadly it appears the political and strategic intelligence of the site is gone.

I have thought that often. I will see a comment and it just seems so out in left field. I usually look at their home page and they have been here since 1998. I’ll look at their comment records and they had commented regularly for a few years and gradually stopped commenting for several years. All of a sudden, they are making 30 comments a day, every day and the comments are all left leaning. Could be the person retired and has more time now. It could also be a child or grandchild has taken over the account.
If that happens to my account and I start leaning left, you can be sure it is my daughter. On the other hand, if I start going hard core, and I mean really hard core right, you can bet it’s my grandson.

My own brother was a Vietnam vet, member of the 25th Infantry Division in Cu Chi from 1966-67, and he died at the young age of 51. I had two uncles who served in the U.S. Army overseas during WWII, and a great-uncle who died serving with the Canadians in France during WWI.
Why on earth would I be considered disrespectful because I questioned someone getting awarded a medal?
And I couldn't write this directly to her, to confront her about her hypocrisy, because she screams and threatens people, yelling at them not to write to her ever again, citing Jim Robinson's rules to anybody she's deemed an enemy that happens to make a normal reply to one of her comments.

During sign up each person was assigned the next number starting from 1(Jim Robinson). It used to show up when you would click on your account info. But that was changed and I don’t know how you find it now. I think mine was in the 3000’s somewhere, but I am no longer sure.
The Bronze Star has two versions, one for meritorious service like sitting in an office and doing an exceptional job on important work, and the Bronze Star with V device for bravery in combat.
In 2001 Congress changed the rules that you have to at least be in the combat zone to be awarded the medal.
