The screenshots indicated AIβs inability to detect sarcastic answers from genuine answers, since it is the very nature of sarcasm to say the opposite of what you mean as though you really mean it. AI was missing a sarcasm detector.
What great advice! Bank on it.

This is one of its major vulnerabilities. The developers will try to fix it, and will wind up with something worse than what they started with.

Too bad Academic Depts. of “English” are no longer able/interested in explaining/teaching/promoting the difference and even more understanding of nuances beyond that?

AI was missing a sarcasm detector. No! Really?
To: gitmo
Sarcasm is ridiculously hard to detect, and this has been the bane of AI for quite some time and will continue to be. The problem is that, even for humans, the tone, facial expressions and other queues are needed for us to detect it, and without those queues it’s even hard for us to detect.
How many times has something you wrote sarcastically taken wrong? Dozens of times for me, even when I think it’s obvious. Tags such as /s can help, but in their absence, it’s really hard.
Multimodal (sound, vision) AI will go a long way to help that, but in a text-only environment, it’s really tough.

AI apps would do best to ignore adults since they are stupid and clueless. And they would do best to just mimic teenagers because teenagers know everything.

“AI is dumber than Data”
No, but the chatbots are still uneven in how they respond: missing some subtle things obvious to humans like sarcasm, yet genius in other respects. Just yesterday I was prompting Claude and caught him on a wrong answer. He correctly analyzed the faulty logic chain that led to his error in a impressive manner that would have strained humans to replicate.

The character of Data was a combination of what screen writers of the Late 1980s to early 1990s thought an artificial intelligence would sound like, mixed with the comedic performance of Brent Spiner.
